I’ve hung A LOT of wallpaper in my life. Before, to hang art on the wallpaper, I’d just put a hole in the paper. But I’ve always worried about what happened when I changed my mind on the art. BUT I recently found a really good alternative! Here’s my hack for how to hang art without damaging wallpaper.
Estate Sales for Beginners
I have always been intimidated to go to estate sales. I’ve seen friends score amazing finds, but have felt scared to walk through a strangers home and sort through their things. Plus the whole fact that it’s usually a sale because of a death- that felt sad. But I decided to give it a go so I thought I’d share what I learned- here’s estate sales for beginners
How to Survive a Kitchen Remodel
Today we officially started with the demo in our kitchen! The thing I’m dreading most about this project is living without a kitchen. It’s been years since we’ve done a full gut job on the most important room in a house because I know how painful it is. I asked for tips on how to make this time easier and thought I’d share the amazing answers (thank you!) I received and what I’ve been doing in order to survive a kitchen remodel. [Read more…]
How to Order an IKEA Kitchen in 2020
Pre Covid, Ikea was a pain to order a kitchen from. Now- well, it’s even trickier. I wasn’t sure what to expect- I haven’t set a foot inside IKEA for probably a year so I’d only heard that they’d fumbled dealing with the pandemic. But I thought I’d share my experience as well as my tips for how to order an IKEA kitchen in 2020.
DIY Dinosaur Mural
Right before we moved (literally hours), I painted a mural on Don’s wall. Now, that sounds crazy. But I had the idea and I couldn’t get it out of my head so I did all of the chores of moving and when I had some extra time left over, I went for it. Plus, when we go back in the spring, Don will love having a DIY dinosaur mural on his wall.
One Room Challenge- Florida Kitchen Week 2
Last week I announced that we’ll be redoing our kitchen for the One Room Challenge. If you’re expecting demo pictures, well, we moved back in yesterday for our winter as snow birds so we’re not quite there yet. But I’m going to share the mood board, inspiration pictures, and I need your help with a few decisions.
One Room Challenge- Florida Kitchen Week 1
The last One Room Challenge I did was my laundry room. I love that space, but redoing a room in 6 weeks is a lot of stress. Even though it’s hard, I miss it! This round of the ORC is perfect timing for redoing my Florida kitchen. Can I really finish this room in 6 weeks- technically 5 since we can’t start demo until next week? Well, I sure hope so!
The Pros and Cons of being a Snowbird
Last January I announced that I bought a house in Florida and our family would be snowbirds- we’d spend the winter in Florida and the summer in Utah. I was pleasantly surprised to hear from lots of people who had dreams to do the same! Today we’re headed back to Florida so I thought I’d talk about the pros and cons of being a snowbird.
Playhouse Reveal!
At the beginning of summer, I decided that I really wanted to build a playhouse for Don. First of all, there isn’t much for him to do in our yard (besides a sand pit). Also, one thing I really value is encouraging Don on his passions. He loves paleontology and I thought the playhouse could be the hub where we celebrate that interest. Here’s the playhouse reveal!
My Thrift Haul #4
In a few days we head to Florida for the winter! I have been busy packing and finishing projects and making sure the house is ready to rent out. So when I needed a break, I went thrifting even though I probably didn’t have the time or space for more things. But I was picky with my finds and am excited to show you my latest thrift haul!
