Hi Friends! I am SO, so excited to write this blog post this month because I have exciting news to share with you! Finally, I made some BIG traction with my Instagram account and I can’t wait to spill the beans below on how I did it. Every month I write this post to see where I am at with the traffic and income on my blog. I figure if this is a goal of mine, I better track it! Here we go with my December Traffic and Income-
- Amazon- $1.12
- Etsy- 0.44
- Ebay Affiliate $4.96
- Google Ads $0.32 (my RPM- page revenue per thousand impressions is $0.33. A blog that makes about $25,000 per month has an RPM around $10.00)
- Total: $6.82
- Ebook on Instagram $14
Total: -$7.16 I am not going to dwell on the fact that I spent more than I made this month or that the ebook was totally NOT worth it, but that I made $6.82 this month!!! The most by far!!! Like I always tell myself, little by little a little becomes a lot. Aka I have faith and am going to keep pushing to make my hobby blog an earning opportunity for my family.
Social Media Following
- Instagram 1081 (up from 178 last month)- ummmm, how amazing, right?! I will delve into the how below
- Pinterest 639 (up from 605 last month)
- Bloglovin 5 (up from 3 last month)
- Mailchimp 1- still one… Ouch. This one needs help.
How to Grow your Instagram Following
I am now over 1000 followers on Instagram! Every month I have chronicled on here how I have struggled and tried everything I could think of to grow my following. It was working, but painfully slowly (I am a new Instagrammer and started mid September. Everyday I was posting good content with hashtags and tagging companies and commenting and liking others photos). I was on Pinterest one day and saw this pin that talked about Instagraming from your desktop. I clicked and read all about the FREE app Crowdfire. Essentially what it does is you put in a favorite Instagrammer’s profile name in and it shows their most engaged followers (so the people who like and comment the most) then you can follow them SUPER quick- like follow 100 people in less than a minute. You can also see which followers aren’t following you back so you can go back and unfollow those who didn’t follow you so that your following number isn’t super high. You can only follow or unfollow 100 people each hour. But guys, I saw immediate success! I downloaded the app 10 days ago and I am thrilled with the results! So yes, some people may consider it spammy but if you have a beautiful feed that you have worked your butt off to curate, you want people to see it! I don’t know how long I will use the app. I want my following to grow more organically, but I know to work with companies they won’t take you seriously unless you are at least in the 5,000-10,000 range, so I will keep you posted!
I used to use Iconosquare for my stats, but they are now charging for that service and so this month I searched for an alternative. I found simplymeasured.com that gave me these stats in exchange for a following on Twitter. I am not sure if I can use this service again next month, but for now, it was free. Here were my top photos from Instagram last month in terms of engagement:
What do these have in common? A whimsical element! The faux animals were the winners this month. And pink- always pink. Also the photos from the model home were very popular- I will do a post on how I designed a model home soon!
I LOVE this info-graphic! How helpful to know that Sunday at 8pm is my best time to post?! I guess I will have to post more often in the evenings 🙂
Instagram eBook Review- Last month I mentioned that I was going to buy this eBook. I am sad to say I was underwhelmed by it. It was mostly pretty pictures and didn’t get into enough details like when she posts. I’m not going to give all of the key information away, but my favorite parts-
- She suggested tagging brands whenever you use them. You might get a regram which will be HUGE for your following. Plus, you are providing your viewers with valuable information on where they can get your beautiful items. I have been following this advise and I was regrammed by @iloveankit for the above photo (they make the headphones)! I was so excited!!
- She outlined how big her account was when she got sponsorship and how much she gets paid for them. Let’s just say the amount of money she receives for one pretty picture on Instagram blew my mind #goals
So my most clicked pins were all older pins. That makes me a little sad (I’d prefer my newer posts to be listed), but I am happy that I have older content getting lots of love on Pinterest!
Google Analytics Stats
My pageview goal last month was 1300 so I am happy it was above that at almost 1,700! Next month I am working towards 2,000! Also my sessions, users, and session duration went up while my bounce rate went down. Yay!
Here are my top landing pages:
Again some spam that I don’t know what to do with. Most of my top pages match my top pinned content and it’s interesting to see what else was popular.
I love that this is getting to be a more diversified map and that the organic search section is growing! Thanks for liking me Google. Here are my top referrals:
I need to keep commenting on blogs (where 4 and 5 came from). Again, thank you Pinterest for being such a good source of traffic! I need to work on growing that. I have tried pinning multiple times a day, but I need to do more research into how to increase my Pinterest traffic to my blog.
Have 1300 followers- check!
Make a Google plus login- check!
Get Instagram followers to 200- check!
Make $10 on my blog- nope, I need to work on it
Make an ebook- I started but haven’t finished
Thank you for following along! Thank you for reading! I really appreciate it. The end of this month was a little spotty for posting. I know that one post a week sucks. I am trying for great content even if it means less posting. It didn’t help that my baby was sick/teething/boycotting naps and my work life was crazy. Thanks for sticking with me! I have some great posts planned!
