One question I got a TON from my bathroom renovation was “where did you get that bath tray?” And guess what? I made it! It was so easy too- anyone can make one and I’ll show you how to below. I am convinced that every bath lover needs one. This tray elevates bath time- you have a place for a drink, a show, a book. It is heaven!
start with a board
For this project, I used a board we had sitting in our garage. The board was from Lowes and measured 31.5″l x 15.75″w.
cut the wood
I used my chop saw to cut off 2.5″ from each end. If you don’t have a saw, when you buy the saw from the home improvement store they will make the cuts for you for free.
stain your pieces
I used Minwax stain in Special Walnut ($4 on Amazon) to stain all of the parts. I used an old rag to apply. Next, I let the stain set in for 15 minutes and then wiped off the excess stain with a rag.
screw the pieces together
For this final step, you’re going to want to measure your tub. On my tub, the outer edge is thicker than the inner edge. So I screwed the left side in farther than the right side. Make sure to use screws that are long enough to get through the top piece of wood, but won’t make it through the front.
And that is it! Now, just place on your tub and enjoy! Bonus points for adding flowers, bubble bath, a sponge, and a sugar scrub for ultimate relaxation!
For the second DIY from the bathroom, I’m going to teach you how to make your own rose sugar scrub. I think that this would be the perfect gift!
gather your materials
For this project, you’re going to want:
1 cup sugar
4 Tbsp baby oil
10 drops rose essential oil
1 rose (the petals from 1 rose)
1 container for the sugar scrub (I love this one because it holds this recipe perfectly and it includes a wood spoon for scooping out the sugar scrub. Plus its cute 😉 )
combine your ingredients
I used a hand blender to combine the above recipe. A food processor would be ideal though.
place in container
place your newly made sugar scrub into your cute container. Gift to a friend or enjoy for yourself. I love using this on my feet and hands during a bath- it really helps keep them soft!
I hope these DIYS are helpful to you! If you are a bath lover, you definitely need that tray. And the sugar scrub is the perfect addition or gift!
