It’s almost the holidays, which is the busiest time of year. Currently, I’m getting as organized as possible before things get extra crazy! So if you want to join me, read on for some organization tips and affordable organizing bins.
Organization Tips and Affordable Organizing Bins
Getting organized is so freeing! But it can also be a little overwhelming. Since we’re quickly approaching the holidays, I wanted to share my tips to make organizing as quick and easy as possible.
Then further down, I share my favorite budget organizing sources. And finally, I rounded up some affordable organizing bins that are all under $12.
Quick Organizing Tips
Organizing Tip #1
First of all, dump or pull everything out. You want to get it all out where you can see it! So, then you have to touch everything.
Organizing Tip #2:
Next, sort everything into categories. Mine usually include: donate, trash, goes back in the drawer and goes in another room.
If you have a hard time letting go of your things, I wrote a post about how to do that here.
Organizing Tip #3
After everything is out, clean out the drawer (or shelf) really well with cleaner. If it was disorganized before, it probably needs it 😉 lol. I promise, this will give you a fresh start and encourage you to keep things organized!
Organizing Tip #4
Next, put things back into smaller bins or containers. If you give everything a home, then you’ll know where to put it back whenever you use something.
I share my favorite budget organizing sources below if you’re looking for inexpensive bins!
Organizing Tip #5
Also, put a label on each container so everyone in your family knows where things go. If you have one, you can use a label maker. I have pink tape for mine, so this step is always fun for me.
Organizing Tip #6
Finally, put the things away that don’t belong in the drawer or shelf. Also, make a rule that you only put things back that actually belong there! And celebrate your newly organized space, yay!
Budget Organizing Sources
Organizing bins can be really expensive. And the last thing you want is to pay a lot of money just to organize your stuff. So, here are my go-to places for affordable organizing bins.
Budget Source #1 – IKEA
One of my favorite places to get budget friendly organizing bins is IKEA. If you go to the kitchen section, they have a selection of Variera bins that come in a few sizes and colors.
Also, you IKEA’s small food containers would be great for organizing drawers. You don’t even have to buy the lid, just label the side and you’re good to go!
Budget Source #2 – Walmart
Another one of my fave sources for getting organized is Walmart. If you go to their bin section, some of them cost less than a dollar! They have tons of choices, so you’ll definitely find what you need there.
Budget Source #3 – The Dollar Store
Next, the dollar store always has small inexpensive containers that are great for organizing. Including smaller trays for things like paper clips or hair pins.
Budget Source #4 – Target’s Dollar Spot
Finally, Target’s Dollar Spot is a great place to find little bins, baskets or cups for organizing. It’s definitely a hit and miss, so keep your eye out for them whenever you make a Target run!
Affordable Organizing Bins
1 Wire Bin / 2 Y Weave 3-Piece / 3 Mini Closeable Box / 4 Sterilite / 5 Interlocking 8-Piece / 6 Stacking Basket / 7 Mini / 8 Small White Basket / 9 Small Storage
Lastly, I rounded up a few affordable organizing bins. So, if you’re trying to get organized before the holidays the above are some good options!
Personally, I really like using wire baskets to store my blankets, so I added #1 for that…also it’s super cute haha! But #4 costs less than a dollar. And don’t be afraid to buy something like #9 for drawer organization!
