Since we’re getting ready to rent out our Florida home as an Airbnb, I wanted to share with you everything I use to get it fully stocked. Read on for my Airbnb shopping list with a free printable!
Airbnb Shopping List
This summer I’m planning on spending a few months in Utah fixing that house for future renters. You can see my full plans for it here.
While we’re there I’m planning on renting out my Florida as a short term rental. I’m not sure how it’ll do with everything going on, but it’ll be stocked in case anyone wants to stay there! I thought I’d share my Airbnb shopping list in case anyone else is turning their home into a rental too. It even comes with a free printable, so scroll down to get it!
My Personal Rules with Stocking An Airbnb
linens
-All bed and bath linens should be white. That way, with a glance, guests can tell that they are clean. And if they get dirty, my cleaner can bleach them. All nice hotels have white linens and I like to provide the same feeling of clean, crisp sheets.
I buy two sets of sheets per bed. That way, they’re there if the guests need them. And, mostly, the cleaner can start the laundry and make the bed while the laundry is still going. Washing linens is the slowest part of cleaning, so this makes it more efficient.
pillows
-For pillows, I buy two per sleeper. One soft and one firm. That way, each person can choose the most comfortable pillow for them.
make it kid friendly
-I like to provide items to make it easy for parents with a baby or toddler to visit. Since we traveled a bunch when Don was a baby, this is something I value. Because of that, I have a pack n play, high chair, kids books and toys and dishes. It costs a little more up front (probably $100), but it means more people will be able to stay with you.
what would a hotel provide?
-I think that an Air BNB should include anything that a hotel would provide. For that reason, I like to have an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, shampoo, and conditioner. I also include a stocked first aid kit. Those are basics that every property should have.
make it smart
-One thing I prioritize is having smart items on my house to be able to manage the property from a distance. Things like a door lock that I can open remotely and change the codes. I like having a Ring camera at the front and rear entrance. I disclose this to my guests and it helps me ensure everything is going as planned.
Last, I like having a Nest thermostat. That way I can see how the heat/air conditioning is being used and can change the settings when there’s no one in the house. Or warm it up/cool it down to prepare for a new guest.
supplies
-For things like extra toilet paper and paper towels and cleaning items, I like to put those in a locked cabinet with a code for the cleaning team to access them. I prefer not to use a key in case there’s a turn over in cleaners. Or in a pinch, I can give the renters a key if there’s a need for them to access supplies.
charging
-I like having ways for people to charge their phones. In the kitchen, I’ll probably install an outlet with a USB port. On both sides of the master bedroom bed, I have USB’s and an outlet. I think those little touches make a big difference! I’ve been to an Air BNB where the host provided a bunch of charging cords on a table by the sofa. It was convenient ad so thoughtful!

To be honest, stocking up on all this stuff was pretty expensive (probably $2000). More than I was planning. It’s a little scary to spend that money right now with all the uncertainty. But my long term goal is to rent out this house when we’re not here, so I’m looking at it as an investment in the future. It might not pay off this summer, but hopefully it will.
OK, I’d love to hear from you? What’s your favorite amenity or extra you’ve had in an Air BNB?
if you loved it, pin it!

The kindness of the host has always been the most important thing for me to feel at home. Details show you care! But if there’s something missing it’s no problem to me if the host can offer a warm response

Love this list! Thanks so much – can’t think of anything off hand…. well i guess if you are proximate to a beach its nice to have beach chairs and a brush to clean sand off of them.
