I’ll be 100% honest- our recent move from Utah to Florida was a little rough on our dogs- Derek (the black and white pup) took it the worst. As we settled in, he tensed up and would yelp out in pain frequently. We took him to the vet who said it was in his head and it’d get better.
It was so sad to me! Derek was my first baby so we did everything to keep him comfy. We were all a little worried about him- he just turned 8 so he isn’t the youngest.
I decided that the dogs could use a little pampering, so I made them this cute dog feeding station and filled it with fresh food (more on that in a second). To say they are fans is an understatement! Here’s the DIY for all of you dog lovers:
diy dog food station
materials
- 4 end table legs
- Leg plates and screw sets
- Gold dog food bowls (we got one medium size for water and 2 small ones for food. These are super affordable at $4 and $3 each!)
- 1″x8″x2′ wood board
- simple trim for edges
- liquid nails
- paint
tools
- drill
- spade bit set
- jigsaw
- mouse sander
- folding workbench (optional, but it is one of my favorite DIY purchases ever)
instructions
step 1- draw on your board where your three bowls will go. Make sure to make a center line so everything is lined up
Step 2- Use a drill with a spade bit set attachment to start your circle.
Step 3- use a jigsaw to complete your circles. Don’t worry if they’re perfect- the bowl will cover up the wood edge. Use a sander to clean up the cut edge. Have your cute little helper vacuum up the saw dust 🙂
Step 4- attach the metal plates on with the included screws. Screw on legs. We weren’t able to use the 4th screw inside the circle as our wood was too small. It is still plenty sturdy.
Step 5- add trim to the edges so you don’t see the hardware for the legs.
step 6- paint and use! I love that this little DIY feeding station is portable and keeps our bowls from looking like a jumbled mess.
freshpet
As I was majorly sad about Derek being in pain over our move, Freshpet reached out to me about trying their all-natural pet food, I jumped at the chance. My dogs usually eat dry dog food so I knew they’d love it since it is made with 100% Natural Farm Raised Beef as the #1 ingredient. One of my favorite parts about this food is that it is stored in the fridge. Freshpet doesn’t use any additives or preservatives- just sticking it in the fridge is good enough. It is super convenient with the resealable and is like having a home cooked meal for my pups. Yes please!
eating time!
Spoiler alert- my dogs loved the Freshpet Select Fresh from the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe! There was an easy to follow serving instructions for their weight on the back. I also like knowing that it is made locally in their kitchen in Bethlehem, PA. If you are a dog owner who wants a convenient option for food that your dogs will love, check out Freshpet!
I let Don feed the dogs the other day and he was thrilled! Its been a month now since we have moved and I am super happy to say that Derek is settling in. He has stopped yelping in pain (thank goodness!). I’ve talked to other dog owners and it sounds like big changes can be tricky on dogs which manifests itself in different ways.
We are huge Freshpet fans over here! I loved the convenience and my dogs ate every bite. Let me know if you check it out because I think your dogs will love it too.
