Hello! I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas. My son is at such a fun stage, it was pretty magical celebrating Christmas with him. For a few weeks I kept thinking about making a free 2018 calendar printable. I need a pretty calendar for next to my desk and thought that I could design my own botanical one.
Let’s be honest, it took way longer for me to make the calendar than I thought it would. I am a slow graphic designer, and spent a bunch of nights working on it while watching TV with my husband (p.s. how good was the second season of The Crown?!).
free 2018 botanical calendar
Even though it took forever, I am thrilled with how it turned out!!! I did a different color for each month and filled the page with a wreath of beautiful, vintage botanicals. If you’d like your own, just fill out your email below and it’ll get emailed immediately to you (make sure to check your junk email too!).
diy gold poster hanger
To hang the calendar, I made a DIY gold hanger. This was such a fun and easy project! And you could use it to hang any art you want on the walls. I made it with magnets so you can hang things quickly without damaging them. You can even make it without any tools.
supplies
- 1 board of 1/4″ x 2″- 4 ‘ long poplar hobby board ($2 at Home Depot)
- Gold Spray Paint
- 2 Eye Hooksย (1/2″ size)
- Magnets
- Twine or yarn to hang it up with
how to make the diy poster hanger
Step 1- cut your poplar board into 4 pieces. Each piece should be 10″. My husband cut these for me with a chop saw. You can also use the saw they have for free at Home Depot.
Step 2- spray your boards gold (or really any color you want).
Step 3- screw the i- hooks into the top of one piece of wood. Just put the screw in the top and push it in with your fingers before screwing it in.
Step 4- glue the magnets to the inside of each piece of wood. Make sure you have the magnet facing the right way so it will stick together.
Step 5- tie twine to the top of the hanger with the i-hooks in it. Put your poster between the pieces of wood. Hang and display your pretty calendar!
I added a tassel I made for a little dash of texture. Isn’t it cute?! I love having it hanging on the wall. I think the gold is a fun glam touch and looks so pretty with the flowers.
Anyway, I hope you love the calendar and let me know if you make the holder too! Happy New Year!
