Our living room is in need of a little personality- especially in the corner where we used to have a fireplace. I’m going to show you how to use a living room screen to add texture, interest, and pattern.
before
When we first bought our house in 2018, this corner of the living room had a wood burning stove. One of the first things I did was paint all the stone white to neutralize it a bit.
We used the wood burning stove once, but the door wouldn’t totally close so the house filled with smoke. I sold it and for awhile, it was just stone in this corner without the stove.
Then, the kitchen got a big renovation. Including adding windows between the living room and kitchen. Because of that, the wall needed drywall work.
Since the work already needed to be done, we decided to do the adjoining wall too. So the rest of the stone was removed. I was never a fan of it and was so excited to see it go! The stone felt very 1970’s instead of authentic to our 1905 house.
Then my husband added new drywall. I painted. And ta da! A boring corner!
Well, actually a blank slate. And I knew exactly what I wanted to add- a living room screen.

The Inside reached out about gifting me a room divider and I was so excited!!! I went with the Citrine Cabana Stripe. They have an amazing variety of fabrics- over 135 options and they’re designer high end fabrics. The great thing is that the price is affordable for a custom piece!
Above are some of my favorite options- of course shown in a rainbow of colors.
Besides screens, they also carry sofas, chairs, ottomans, dining chairs, benches, and outdoor pieces too. Everything upholstered can be customized with the exact fabric you want on The Inside’s site.
Are you ready to see what I choose?!

I went with the yellow stripe! It works so well with rainbow art on the other side of the room!
I love the pattern and softness the divider adds to this corner of the room. We listen to records all the time in here and now it has a pretty backdrop. The screen is colorful and it adds some great personality. I’m a fan! What do you think?
