I was super happy with my living room when I shared it a few weeks ago. Except one thing- I needed blackout drapes. Why? Well, the sun is always shining in this room (which I love!), but that makes it hard for TV watching. Which is a major problem for my husband who loves football.
So I went on the hunt for new drapes (and rods). I did major research for the drapes. Ideally, I needed something that blocked the light. I wanted a fun detail like tassels on the side. And I thought incorporating pink velvet would be beautiful. Because of the rug, I didn’t want pattern on the drapes.
Guys, I searched and searched! I thought I would share some of my favorite options that I came up with in case you need new drapes too.
the prettiest velvet and tassel drapes
1. / 2. / 3. / 4. / 5. / 6. / 7. / 8. / 9.
These come in a variety of shades of pink and price points. I was on a tight budget because I had 3 windows to cover. Here’s the tassel drapes I considered:
1. / 2. / 3. / 4. / 5. / 6. / 7. / 8. / 9.
what I choose
Finally, I decided on the pink velvet drapes with orange tassels from Target! BUT they were out of stock in my size (I need 96″ long drapes for my tall ceilings and windows). I put in my email to get a notice when they were available. The next day I got the email AND they were 30% off that day! So I ordered them.
drape rods
I wanted some cute drape rods to hang them from. I’ve had luck with Amazon in the past so I searched there. Well guess what?! I found the BEST gold modern drapery rods! They look similar to these West Elm ones, but are way cheaper!!! And I must say, they look gorgeous in person too! I 100% recommend these! Plus, there are lots of good ratings on Amazon too.
splurge- West Elm / save- Amazon
how they look in the room
Here’s how the new drapes and rods look in the room. The pink drapes cast the prettiest pink light in the living room and it is really lovely!
I love the punch of color they give to the space without being too busy. One thing I should mention, is that they aren’t blackout drapes. They still let a little light in (which is fine by me, but my husband would prefer zero light on the TV screen).
Anyway, they’re a really lovely addition! Now I just have to change out the art behind the sofa that its covered up. 😉 This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
