A few days ago, I shared a tip on Instagram stories- I suggest buying pillow covers/shams as opposed to a fully stuffed pillow. That way you can store pillow covers folded up WAY more efficiently than you can a bunch huge pillows. I do this so I can switch out the shams out with seasons or as my mood dictates while saving space.
Win win! Then came the questions- I got at least 15 direct messages asking- “where do you get your pillow covers” So I thought I’d share with you my favorite sources!
where do you buy your pillow covers?
Etsy
My number one source is definitely Etsy! I’ll share a few of my favorite vendors:
Dekowe on Etsy
This vendor sells designer pillow covers at fair prices. I have a bunch of their pillows in my home (including the floral one above)! The quality is great! Here are my favorite pillow shams that they have right now:
Stuck on Hue on Etsy
The blush linen pillows on my sofa are from Hollie at Stuck on Hue. She has a gorgeous Etsy shop full of designer pillow covers! These are high en, stunning pillows. Here are a few I am loving (that floral one!):
company twenty six on Etsy
If you’re looking for a budget pillow cover option- this is it! There’s some really great choices plus they start at $7 each! This shop is highly rated and they’ve done a ton of sales. I got a pillow sham from them for Don’s original nursery (the mint one above).
west elm
My favorite pillow cover ever is probably the Mongolian Wool one I have on my pink chair! I just love the soft texture it adds. Its from West Elm and they have a bunch of options and most of them are budget friendly.
pottery barn
Pottery Barn has some gorgeous pillow covers! I don’t personally own any, but I’ve used them in my designs before. The quality is great and the price is fair. Below are a few I’d buy in a heart beat:
pottery barn teen
You might think that Pottery Barn Teen is just for teenagers, but if you choose the right items, it can work in an adult space. Plus sale pillow covers start at $10! Here’s some fun covers that I adore!
h & M home
H&M Home has a huge selection of pillow covers and they’re super affordable! They range from $5-$15. Such an affordable way to give your sofa a new look! Here’s my faves-
amazon
Oh Amazon! Of course they have TONS of pillow covers! And they’re cheap too! The only problem with Amazon is that sometimes they have too many options. Here’s a few good ones-
Overstock
I’m a huge Overstock lover! And they have some pillow covers too! The ones I found were mostly in the $30-$50 price. Here’s the ones I have my eye on-
what size do you buy?
For my smaller pillows, I always buy an 18″x18″ size (this is the majority of the pillow covers I own). For the larger, Euro sham size, I buy 26″x26″.
pillow inserts
If you only buy pillow covers, you’re going to need inserts! The most inexpensive place to do this in Ikea. If you don’t have an Ikea close by, JoAnn has some that are priced well- plus they usually have coupons. I like this 20×20 pillow insert and this 26×26 euro insert option on Amazon too.
Its probably a good idea to buy your pillow insert 2″ bigger than the pillow sham. So if you have an 18″x18″ sham, I’d suggest buying a 20″x20″ pillow insert so your pillow is nice and fluffy. There’s nothing worse than a sad under stuffed pillow ;).
Besides asking me where to buy the pillow covers, I had a few people saying on Instagram stories that this was a great way to hide pillows from their hubbies- lol! Anyway, all you pillow lovers out there, I hope this gave you some ideas to start your own pillow stash too!

Hi – So, where do we buy the “blanks” that go inside the pillow covers? I bought a dozen really neat “seashore” themed pillow covers, thinking I could find the blanks at Ross or Marshall’s. Wrong. I’ve looked in over a dozen places, local shops, chains, etc. Nothing. Where are they hiding?? THANKS!
