And you can even get your deposit back, promise😉. Here are some of the best removable products for your rental to make it a space you love.
Removable Products for Your Rental
To start off, there are so many things you can do to a rental to improve it. And I’m constantly asked about the removable DIY projects I’ve done.
So, I decided to put it all in one big blog post. Keep reading for the best removable wallpaper, peel and stick backsplash and floor tile, command hooks and finally appliance decals!
Side note, even though I own my current home I still use a lot of these products! Even if you own your home, these removable products are for you too.
Removable Wallpaper
So, a few years ago we rented a house in Florida! It was a dream for our family to go south for the winter and I’m constantly dreaming of doing that again. Although the house was gorgeous, there were a few things I wanted to personalize since we were there for six months.
One of the things we did was add a cute removable wall mural in Don’s room. Honestly, wallpaper is such a good way to transform a room. And the best part about it? It was removable! Also, removable wallpaper has become super popular. So, that means there are lots of choices!
1 Fruit / 2 Polka Dots / 3 Orange Tree / 4 Wild Dreams / 5 Leaving Ojai /
6 Herringbone / 7 Cute Kitties / 8 Terrazzo / 9 Herons in the Grass
I don’t know about you, but I’m totally loving #8, the Terrazzo pattern. It’s cute enough to be feminine, but it could also work for a gender neutral space. Actually, it looks similar to the one I used for my husband’s bathroom!
Peel and Stick Backsplash Tile
Alright, you’re about to get me started on how much I love peel and stick backsplash! Look out because I’m a huge fan. Now, there are a lot of ways to update your rental kitchen and I detail all of them here.
But changing up the backsplash makes such a big difference to the look of your kitchen. Actually, I did a peel and stick backsplash in my current kitchen! And it made the room go from 1990’s scary to cute and happy.
1 Helsingborg / 2 Astra / 3 Stellino / 4 English Rose / 5 Black and White / 6 Pacific Moroccan / 7 Cannes / 8 Herringbone / 9 Vichy
Honestly, I don’t think you can underestimate just how much changing your backsplash updates your kitchen. #7 Cannes is so pretty! It could add a lot of light and a little Spanish look to your space.
Command Hooks
1 Decorative Ceiling Hooks / 2 Canvas Hangers / 3 Jewelry Hooks / 4 Broom Hooks /
5 Small Organizing Hooks / 6 Hooks for Small Decorations / 7 Brick Art Hanger / 8 Small Frame Hangers / 9 Large Frame Hangers
Oh, you didn’t think we were getting out of this without good ole Command hooks did you? Well, a removable hook is the cornerstone of decorating a rental.
First of all, they’re really sturdy. You definitely have to check the weight limit, but they can hold quite a bit.
Second, since they’re removable they’re highly customizable! You can use them for organizing your hanging items. Or you can use them to hang wall or ceiling art. You could use #6 for string lights or banners.
Peel and Stick Floor Tiles
Next up are peel and stick floor tiles! As you can see in the above picture, I used them in my bathroom in my current house. I tell you all about the process in a blog post here.
Even though the floors weren’t so bad to begin with, I’m so glad I did peel and stick tiles. It helped make the room look crisper and have more of a flow for the eye. I even cut around the legs of the tub to lay the tiles! It’s a totally doable DIY, so don’t be intimidated!
1 Illusion Neutral / 2 Poppy Mint / 3 Virtual Tile / 4 Harlow /
5 Gustavian / 6 Agrigento / 7 Fez / 8 Scandinavian / 9 Stellino
Again, there are so many options nowadays with peel and stick tiles. I’m really loving #7 Fez. The starburst pattern just gets me.
Appliance Decals
Finally, we have appliance decals. These are such a fun way to add some color or personality to your kitchen.
Currently, I’m saving up for a full kitchen renovation. So, I decided to wrap my oven to make it cuter (and pink). And let me tell you, I love it! Opening up a pink oven is so much more fun than a regular one.
1 Orange Gloss Vinyl Wrap / 2 Gold Vinyl Wrap / 3 Pink Vinyl Wrap / 4 Contemporary Stripes / 5 Teal Geometric / 6 Tropical Birds Wrap / 7 Jungle Plants Wrap / 8 Hexagon Wrap / 9 Fridge Skin
So, I included some different options here. But just to let you know, you can cut down the fridge wraps (4-7) to use for your oven or dishwasher. I used #3 for my oven, but isn’t #6 with the birds so much fun?
If you want to know how I wrapped my oven, you can follow the DIY here.
