Hey friends! Since we moved to Florida, I’ve had fresh inspiration for our home. One of the styles I love was the Golden Girls house in Miami. Well, it turns out there’s a name for it. It’s called granny chic, and it’s totally what I’m going for in our Florida home! Let’s explore that style then later I’ll share the cutest granny chic accessories with you.
The Cutest Granny Chic Accessories
To start off, I always had a vision for our new home. And one of my sources of inspiration was the Golden Girls home. You know, from the classic TV show about four older ladies all living together in Miami?
I mean, look at that fabulous rattan furniture! Besides the nylons with sandals (lol), that look has totally made its way back in, and I’m all over it. But I’ll be going for a more modern version of it.
As you can see, the ladies have a specific style with a lot of pattern, knick knacks on display and a general granny look that millennials including myself are embracing!

So, granny chic, aka grand millennial, is its own look. What sets it a part is how it embraces old, timeless pieces. Rather than getting everything new, grand millennials appreciate family heirlooms and antiques and put them on display. Not only does this give the heirloom a second life, it also adds a very personal touch that tells a story.
For example, like how I just framed this vintage scarf that I found while thrifting!

Here’s another example. You can see in the image that they’ve put a couple of ginger jars on display and really embraced the green floral pattern that other designs would have reupholstered or updated.
On the other hand, the black frames and chairs add a bit of a modern touch that makes this a granny chic room.

Also, granny chic is how millennials pay homage to the past and its traditional values. You’ll find things like cross stitched accessories put on display as decor.
Granny Chic Accessories
1 dog set / 2 peonies / 3 cake mold / 4 picnic basket / 5 tea towel / 6 plate set / 7 scalloped sconce / 8 temple jar / 9 pillow / 10 table lamp set / 11 monkey print / 12 topiary / 13 cross stitch art / 14 elephant table
Honestly, what I love the most about the granny chic look is that there are no rules! It’s totally up to you and what you like that determines the design.
I rounded up a few of my favorite granny chic accessories and wanted to share them with you. The elephant table #14 really has my heart! I love how it’s rattan and just fun.
And I feel like you could also build a beautiful room around #11, the monkey art print. Since it has so many colors and a bold pattern, you could take it in a lot of cute directions!
