Well, what a year it’s been this week! 😂 I thought I’d share some of the things that I enjoyed the most this week with you.
A Happy Weekend Hello
Wow, this has been such a crazy week! So, last Friday we got the news that Don would be out of school through March at minimum. Normally, he goes to preschool 5 days a week for 3 hours a day. So that changes things a lot around here! I’m sure going to miss his dear teacher. She’s so sweet and has been working with him on his writing.
All last Friday, I spent the day running to stores gathering things so I could spend 3-4 weeks at home doing projects.
Then, on Monday we got new windows in the house. For a few hours, we didn’t have any windows up, so now we’ve been catching all the lizards that snuck inside.
Good news- it’s been a great activity for my son! He makes sure to release them safely outside, but it’s definitely the most exciting thing going on over here.😂
All in all, we’ve been getting transitioning to a new normal which I’m sure you can relate to. As a blogger, I’m used to being home but this week has still been challenging.
I’ve been thinking about how hard this is on so many people and I so feel for everyone. I sincerely hope you’ve been doing ok. I thought I’d share what’s been lighting me up and helping me smile this week.
Here’s a picture of Don and Lucy in the backyard. Our mango tree is dropping leaves so we raked them up and jumped in them!
What I Loved This Week
This podcast really helped me with all the virus craziness. I’ve been making sure to go on one 20 minute walk a day. I listened to this the other night and came home so inspired! She asks these questions which are so great- How can I help? Where am I needed? How can I show up there? How can I be part of the solution? I highly recommend it, it’ll lift your spirits!
I loved this Instagram post with good news on the virus. Things are getting better! There is hope!
A little Air BNB update. Since the house is located in a college town, everything like competitions, graduations, and markets were all cancelled, so of course, all of our guests cancelled through April since they were planning on being in town for these things. BUT we did have one person book a long term stay. And I’m so glad that Fairview Cottage is a safe haven for someone right now! If you’re interested in seeing it, here’s the airbnb booking page.
I’m thinking about working on my powder room. Here’s a sneak peek of the wallpaper I’m considering.
My sister shared this idea of making an outdoor tinkerspace. I love it! Don and I have been brainstorming ideas for one we could make. It probably won’t happen until it’s safer to be in stores to buy materials, but until then we can start making plans.
This image inspired me this week! The caning, the preppy scalloped bedding, the orchid, and the faux palm trees all scream cozy coastal vibes to me.
This book called “Not a Box” was suggested to me after we finished our cardboard playhouse. Maybe I’ll grab it to read with Don. I love the creativity that can come from something as simple as a box!
I hope you have a great weekend! I picked up a vintage needlepoint kit off Etsy and am going to teach myself how to stitch it- hopefully I can use it on a pillow in my living room! Evidently handicrafts reduce stress and anxiety so that’s a good side effect! I thought I’d share the links to a few vintage needlepoint kits if you want to try it too!
Hi Ashley! I think the link is wrong for the “image that inspired” you. Thanks for this post! 💖
Thanks Nicole!
