Well hello there! It is week three of our bathroom remodel! As a quick catch up, I am redoing my bathroom in six weeks as part of the One Room Challenge. Here is week one with the mood board and week two if you need to catch up.
First up, I painted the bathroom white. Although we are putting subway tile on the bottom half and wallpaper on the top half, I wanted the walls a clean slate if we need to take down the pink wallpaper to potentially sell or rent our condo one day. Luckily, the paint made it feel so fresh different already!

Next up, demo time! My husband pulled out the tile and the front of the vanity a few days ago:

And today, the rest of the vanity has been removed!
Most of our bathroom supplies have arrived- the vanity is here as is the toilet, floors, subway tile, and faucet. Which is good because that means we can put in the new vanity, pull out the toilet, tile the floor and behind the toilet, and then replace the tile. That needs to be done quickly since we only have one bathroom in our house. #fun
issues
Confession time, I planned my whole bathroom without consulting my husband. Once everything had arrived and I told him that I wanted to do, he told me how hard it will be to put subway tile up on the wall of the room and shower. That means he has to have a tiles connected and straight across the whole room. AKA hard.
And also, it means that he has to have the shower tile pulled out before we tile the walls so we can do those lines. Having the shower not working for an extended period isn’t really a great option when we only have one bathroom. So, we came up with plan b. I found this picture that is inspiration for our solution:
See that little tiny wall between the bathroom and the tub?! We’ll make our own so the tile has a stopping point on the wall. As we’ve prepped for this remodel, I kept wondering- what order do you renovate a bathroom in. Here is what I discovered:
what order do I remodel a bathroom in?
This is what professionals suggest. We’ll mostly be following this, but making a few small tweaks since we have to still shower and use the bathroom while working on the room.
For instance, tonight my husband moved the vanity into the bathroom. We won’t be tiling underneath it (we’ll add a false bottom under the legs). Having the vanity in right now means we’re that much closer to having a working sink in our bathroom- yay!
the vanity is in!
Check back next week for the floor tile going in! Here is a sneak peek of the cute tile from Overstock.com:
I laid it down on the floor to see how it will look and I am so, so excited to get it in! I’ve been buying small items for the bathroom and wanted to give you a sneak peek of some of the finishing touches:
floor / art / sponge / soap dish / soap / bubble bath / turtle / matches / candle
Can my bathroom be finished already so I can take a bubble bath?! I am excited and a little nervous. I’m not halfway done (even though we’re on week 3 of 6), but we’ll get there! Wish me luck!
And if you need to catch up, here is week one with the mood board and week two for the start of the renovation and more in-depth plans. Thank you to Overstock for sending over the main items for my bathroom. They have such a big selection, it was fun being able to pick out what would be perfect for the space!
