A few weeks ago I shared the mood board for the back wall of my bedroom:
Botanical art, Abstract art, Zebra art (no longer available)
I promised some progress photos, but life got busy (work, vacation, just plain life) and I missed that post. But I figured that you’d all rather have some instant gratification and just see the afters. Right? Right! As a reminder here is the before:
I started with the fun part- I painted the door pink. I choose the lightest pink that I could find that wasn’t technically white. I went with Pink Booties by Olympic (no longer available). I rolled it on and it looked exactly how I hoped it would! Cute, but not too much.
The whole reason I started this project is because I was excited to test out some Overlays. This is a fun company the produces laser cut panels for DIYers. They are especially popular to use on Ikea furniture. The idea is that you take something basic, add a cute overlay and possibly some paint and you have a custom piece. I wanted to use the Overlay on my doors to take them from builder basic. Pretty much, you just meed to be able to glue and paint and you can do this project! I used the Caci patttern (no longer available). First of all, use construction adhesive to adhere the overlay where you want it. I premeasured so they would be level and equal distance apart.
Next, you are going to want to use a roller to paint your panel. If you are doing a contrasting color, use spray paint- it’ll work better.
A few months ago I want to a vintage fair and found the cutest vintage elephant door knocker. It’s been sitting in my closet just waiting to be used. Even though it makes zero sense to have a knocker on an interior door, I thought the touch of brass would make me happy. So I put that up too. Just channeling my inner Elsie 😉
Now that the doors were done, I needed to paint the walls (and trim) white. This part was boring, but man, it’s looking so much brighter in my bedroom these days!
Next up, I wanted to continue with my project of adding picture molding and chair molding to the room. I bought the materials, cut the wood, nailed it up, caulked, painted and then took a nap- haha! Long process, but it gives the exact look I want so I can’t complain.
The day we got back from vacation our art from Minted arrived. I was so excited about this! It was SO easy to find art I loved on their site and then push order. They showed up perfectly framed with more information about each artist. I love stuff like that!
Botanical art, Abstract art, Zebra art (no longer available)
I hung up the art and started to get excited! It was all coming together!
Botanical art (no longer available)- Lucy loves it, obviously 😉
Abstract art (no longer available)
The dresser was a cluttered mess. All of the decor I no longer liked came here to die. So I cleared that out and made a pretty little display. My favorite part (besides that zebra print) is the hanging plant! It came in a brown pot that I painted white. Side note, why is it so hard to find a cute hanging planter?!
Zebra art(no longer available), Blue Lantern (no longer available), Domino book, Elements of Style book, All in good taste book
How about some more photos so you can see how much I love it?!
And there you have it, the back wall of my bedroom is finished! I love the art and the pink doors and the white. What’s your favorite part?

Wow it’s as if you have been reading my mind! I just bought a pair of doors a few weeks ago that have plain glass, I told my husband I would find someone to cut out a cool design for it and make them custom. Your door looks beautiful! I love the elephant knocker as well, touches of brass just add up the glam factor. Who can go wrong with zebras? I love Minted but have only browsed so far, I haven’t hit the button yet. I agree about the hanging planters, though the white makes it better. Maybe you can D.I.Y. a macrame hanger for it? I have been thinking about doing that. I want your mirror! I love Venetian mirrors and have a few small ones, but have had my eye on buying two big ones for our bathroom. It looks wonderful, thanks for sharing! I just got my kitchen back-splash done, once I get the new switch plates I will post it up, and you will have to come see.

Thanks Renee! Your kitchen sounds awesome! I’m wanting to do my backsplash this year, but haven’t dived in. I’m excited to see it!
