Happy Friday! My son’s Don’s room is one of the happiest places in our home. It has a safari theme and though it is small (12’x11′), it packs a big punch. We have been slowly changing it up (the new gallery wall and the custom house bookcase have been two of my favorite updates). This week we decided to add some new crown molding and art. Let’s talk about the art first! This wall above the bookcase has been a mini gallery wall for a long time: [Read more…]
It’s been 6 months since I’ve done a total room remodel in my house (the kitchen). I am really excited to announce that over the next 6 weeks I will be redoing my bathroom and chronicling it for you here for the One Room Challenge! I will have an update for you every Thursday with the final reveal in November. Be sure to check back each week to see how it goes! [Read more…]
Hi friends! Last week my blog went silent. My husband’s and my best friend unexpectedly passed away. I took the time to grieve and was, frankly, overcome by sadness. He was 33 and just too young to leave. We weren’t done making memories with him, you know? But it did help me refocus on what is most important- the people I love. I am more dedicated than ever to lead a life that matters, to love those around me to the best of my ability, to be present everyday. Honestly, I needed those reminders and am trying to be a better mom, wife, and friend.
trip recap- Montreal, Canada
A few weeks ago, my little family went to Montreal, Canada to visit my little sister who just moved there with her boyfriend. It was also my 10 anniversary with my husband, so it was perfect timing for a vacation! I thought I would share my favorite activities, where we stayed, and some travel tips with a toddler. Hi Friends! I just got home from a trip to Montreal to see my sister. I will do a recap post next week about the trip. One of my favorite things about travel is that it is a bit of a pause on your life. I got a real break and I am back and inspired and energized!
free halloween printables
I figured, I should put up some Halloween decorations. My son has been really into the holiday this year (he is 2.5 years old) so I was really excited to put up decor for him. As I was getting everything out, I kept wishing for some Halloween art! At first, I was going to buy some, but then I figured that I could design them and then give them to you for free! Isn’t that a win, win?!
I came up with four designs that work well all together or can each stand on their own. My favorite is the double double toil and trouble with the ghosts, cats, pumpkins, and fall flowers. My second favorite is the witch one with the big pink bow. I tried to put together pieces that felt fresh and new and that would work in a variety of homes. [Read more…]
At my house, we are big into reading. Before nap and bed time we read at least two books. Right now, Don is in the super fun stage of wanting to read the same books over and over- so we all have our favorites memorized. I wanted to do a round-up of our favorite books for anyone looking to create or refresh their library. These are a combination of books my son loves that we also love to read to him. Here are The Best Toddler Books: [Read more…]
It was 88 degrees here in Utah today and so it still feels like summer, which I’ve been loving. I also adore the fall weather, but fall means winter is right around the corner which is not my favorite. Anyway, even though it doesn’t feel like fall, I decided to get my porch decorated for fall and thought I’d share the process! Have you ever been on Pinterest and seen those amazing front porches and wanted one too? I decided to create my own dream front porch. [Read more…]
Hello! I’ve been doing some updates in my 2 year old son’s room. The funny thing about these updates is that they are things I wanted to do since before he was born! But I figure, better late than never! This week I focused on the wall that his changing table is on.
Here is the before:
When Don was a year old, I added an Ikea AVDALA bookcase to his nursery to help conquer toy clutter (can you just die over how little he was?! Just me? Ok 😉 ). Since then, I’ve wanted to customize the bookcase to look like a little house and make it special. Here is the inspiration:
I have been working on my living room, giving it a nice little refresh! So far, I’ve shared with you the plan, updated the art over my bench, dreamed about pink chairs and shared the new TV. Well this week is exciting because you get to see what chair I choose plus some new art for the space!
An exciting development is that I want to share is I choose a pink chair! I really wanted a petite chair so I am going with The Tyley from World Market. It will visually lighten up the space and add that pop of pink that I love. Again, I’ll be sure to update the blog with pictures when it arrives! I think she is the perfect partner to the sofa.
I had an artist Claire Kendall contact me about using her art in my home. I clicked over and couldn’t believe how beautiful her art is! It’s a little quirky, a lot beautiful, and she uses pink and lots of flowers. AKA, its perfect for my house. Claire was nice enough to paint a piece that perfectly fit my house. I choose Cosmo Jenny after going between pieces (they are all so pretty!). It arrived and this is where I placed it:
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t in love with how it looked here. It was competing with the art next to it and behind the sofa and I really wanted it to stand out. So I moved it to over my desk:
Isn’t that much better?! She is definitely the star of the show over here and the perfect inspiration for me as I work. [Read more…]
