The decorating of our Florida home continues! As a back story to any new visitors, my family moved to Miami, Florida from Salt Lake City, Utah in January of 2018. I am decorating the gorgeous home corner by corner with the best DIY’s, thrift store finds, and affordable decor I can find! Today I am sharing the plan for my dining room.
During December when I was freezing in Utah I started planning out the design for our Florida dining room. I came up with the concept for the new space and I was oh so excited! Like, I told all of my friends and family about it because it felt like me more than any other room I’ve ever designed! It embraces pattern and color and most of all- pink!

Hopefully you are as excited as I am!!! The pink! The floral! The marble! Here’s the before picture so you can envision where I am starting from:
The landlord left his art that was too big and heavy for him to easily move. We have since placed it in a closet with his permission. As you can see, the room needs everything! Thank goodness I am working with Overstock on this room so I can completely customize it! Overstock is full of beautiful, new home furnishings and the more you search their site, the more you find items that are perfect for you.
For example, I was browsing Overstock one night and saw this floral credenza and fell in love. I wanted it bad!
This pretty little piece is the starting point for the room. And oh what a starting point it is! I love the pattern- those flowers! And the colors are perfect too- there’s so many different tones that I can envision incorporating into the rest of the room!
Above the credenza I needed to hang something. It was between a woven wall hanging and a mirror. I ultimately decided to go with this gold rectangular mirror because I didn’t want to take away from the credenza at all. I love the rounded corners on this piece! And that it’ll add a little sparkle to the space!
Next up, a marble table. I am a round table lover forever and ever. Add marble and a retro base from this Eero Saarinen reproduction and I am in heaven. I choose a 48″ wide table because it’ll easily seat up to 6 people, but most of the time it’ll just be our small family of 3 eating at it.

Now is where it gets really fun!!! I’ve been loving the modern Windsor chair trend- add some pink and it is perfection! How great will these pink chairs look with the round table and that floral credenza?! Right now I want to take a quick second to thank my husband for being cool with the pink. Because this room is going to make my dreams come true!
I planned most of the dining room before I’d even set foot in the home! When I lived in the home for a few weeks I realized that the dining room is big and the 4 chairs I’d ordered might not fill the space as well as I had hoped. Then I was scrolling on Instagram and saw the cutest room with a round table, a few chairs and a settee. Adding more seating was my solution!!!
I found this white mid-century loveseat on Overstock for around $300 and knew we had a winner! Plus it is faux leather which means it’ll wipe down really easily. My old dining chairs had a similar fabric and it worked so nicely (yes, even with a 2 year old)!
The kitchen is right off the dining room and so I wanted to have counter height stools that’ll add color, texture, and a bit of that coastal vibe that I am going for. These indoor/outdoor stools are exactly what the space needs! I love the bistro look and think they will be perfect!
This furniture is going to look so, so good! I’ll add in a new chandelier, curtains, some hanging plants, a rug, art, flowers, and a fun DIY (the plain white dishes in the mood board are getting a makeover) and we’ll be in business! I’ve been sharing sneak peeks on Instagram stories, but the FULL reveal will be up in a few days!
