Happy Friday friends! When we moved into this house in January, the front porch was empty except some beautiful ferns. My son LOVES watering the plants in the front yard and so I knew that I eventually wanted to add a place to sit outside.

Isn’t the white brick so beautiful?! I really just wanted a comfy chair that would be cute for curb appeal. Then, I was on Grandin Road’s site and fell in love with the Luciana bench. I’ll show you why:
Isn’t she a showstopper?! The crown on top! The trellis back! The curves under the seat! I could go on and on! The white color is on sale for $299.99 and is worth every penny. I paired it with a few other Grandin Road pieces. Let me show you:

Pretty much, I am in love with the silhouette of the bench! It feels so refined and special- not something you could pick up from the local store.
We have a desk in our entry and I was working on it after we set everything up. Our neighborhood is super active- people are always out walking (which I love!). One lady stopped and just stared at the porch for a few minutes- lol! I hope she was in love!
The pops of pink are a bold look, but that’s what is so fun about it! Sure this whole look could be neutral with beige pillows, but what’s the fun in that 😉 ?!
Alright, can we discuss doormat layering? It’s a trend I started noticing last year and I love it! Pretty much, you lay an outdoor rug down and put a doormat on top of it. It allows more of your front porch to be covered in pattern and/or color while still being able to wipe your feet off when you walk in the door.
layered doormats
Above is a photo from the front porch of my last home- isn’t the pattern under a classic doormat a fun way to shake up the entry of a home?! I decided to share some of my favorite pairings in case you need more doormat layering inspiration:
1 Hello / 2 Buffalo check / 3 Floral grey / 4 Striped / 5 Hello There / 6 Pastel Flower / 7 Pineapples / 8 Black frame
1 Oh happy day / 2 Abstract blue / 3 Hello stripe / 4 Grey medallion / 5 Home sweet home / 6 Mohave pink / 7 Bike / 8 Botanical
For the base rug, I like it to be around 30″x48″. As small as 24″x36″ will work. For the doormat, it comes in a standard 18″x30″ and will work in bigger sizes too (my Hello rug is 24″x39″). Just make sure to note the measurements of the base rug and the doormat so that you have at least 4-6″ showing along the edges.
There you have it! My front porch reveal and some doormats layering inspiration. This little spot makes me so happy to come home to! I love that its officially spring and that everywhere (even the colder regions) will be able to enjoy some outdoor time soon. Here’s to sitting outside in style 😉 .
