Hi friends! Happy New Year! Usually January is slow around here, but this year I decided to do something big, something special. I’m calling it the 25 Days of DIY! For 25 days in January, I’ll have a new blog post with a new DIY project that includes a video and tutorial. The idea is that I do lots of fun projects around my house while teaching you some DIY basics.

I’ll be doing everything from how to hang wallpaper to how to install shiplap to how to lay floors. Today is a fun and easy DIY calendar holder, plus I have a free download printable calendar. Let’s get started on day 1!

This DIY calendar holder is such a fun and pretty way to hold a calendar (or any art)! Plus, it only takes $10 and 30 minutes to make. The best part is you can change all the photos in less than a minute! You don’t even have to take the frame off the wall (see the video below to see it in action).

How to Make a DIY Calendar Holder

A Tutorial for making this Calendar holder or photo frame

Materials

• 11″ wide x 13.5″ long sheet of 1/4″ thick plywood
• (2) 11″ long 1 1/2 x 11/16" pieces of wood. You can get a 6′ long piece for $3 at Home Depot
• (2) 11" long 3/8" Square Dowel
• (2) 11" long x 1" wide x 3/32 pieces of balsa wood
• Sawtooth Hanger to hang the frame
• Liquid Nails
• (4) 1/2" screws

Tools

• Miter Saw
• Table Saw
• Drill
• Clamps

Instructions

1. Cut your wood to the listed sizes
2. Gather your supplies
3. Clamp the plywood backing sheet, balsa wood strips and 1 1/2" frame pieces. Make sure they are lined up. This creates a groove where the calendar slides in and out of.
4. Use the drill and a drill bit to make pilot holes for your screws through the back. Use tape on the drill bit to mark how deep to drill (so you don't do through the front of the wood).
5. Add a sawtooth hanger to the back of the frame to hang on the wall.
6. Paint the frame white. Paint the decorative trim pieces gold.
7. Use liquid nails to adhere the gold trim to the front of the frame.
8. Hang on the wall and enjoy!

Notes

1. This calendar holder can also act as a photo frame. It is designed to hold 8 1/2" ×11" photos, you can easily adapt the dimensions for other size photos.
