Its a happy day over here! We have a second desk in our office! Do you know how I know when I made a good home decor move? When I spend WAY more time in the room I’m decorating. Because we used to only have one desk, I’d work from my sofa. Turns out, having a pretty desk to work at is a little more efficient. As a reminder, here is how the office looked a few weeks ago-
The walls got painted, the furniture was moved into the playroom, and suddenly, there was a TON of space! It was the perfect time to add a desk!
I did a round up of affordable white desks here. This pretty desk by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart is the one I choose! Why? Because I really appreciate the mid century styling, the size is perfect for this spot, and the affordable price tag.
On the top of the desk, I immediately added this cute brass desk lamp. I think the style is adorable, but I LOVE how it has a built in phone charger. You just place your phone on it and it’s charging- no plugging in cords necessary!
Both of these are from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart. There is a good variety in stores, but even more styles and colors online!
how to style a desk
So, the desk was looking a little boring. Styling time! Below is a video tutorial (side note, if you can’t see it below, watch it on YouTube here)
For styling a desk, I like to start with the tallest and biggest items. The lamp and globe went on first. Next, I added a plant. When accessorizing, I prefer to group 3 items together that all play nicely and arrange them in a triangle. Keep adding items until you have a few groupings that you really like.
If you don’t have a drawer on your desk like this one, use a tray to corral all of the paper clutter. Remember the little details- choose a cute mouse pad so that it can blend in with its surroundings. Finish the styling by adding a few plants on either side of the desk. Especially in February, this can help make a home feel really cozy!
after
I am so happy with this addition to my office! Now I just need to hang art, clear out a few more pieces of excess furniture, and accessorize the rest of the space. It is already looking SO much better than how it was two weeks ago! Stay tuned for the final reveal! For now, I’m definitely calling this corner done!
