Let’s be clear here- it is not spring yet (at least for a few weeks). But I am getting a little cabin fever and I figure- maybe if I decorate for spring it will at least feel closer. So yes, there’s still snow on the ground, but this decor is definitely making me smile despite that small fact 😉
About 6 months ago, I redid my front porch to add more character (lights, decorative molding, paint, and a new door). Ever since then, it’s been a joy to spruce up for each season!
Let’s talk about porch decorating- there’s three key ways to switch things up easily- the wreath, plants or topiaries, and a doormat. If you have a bench, you can also change out the pillow covers. It’s such a simple and fun area to decorate!
wreath
For the wreath, I used one on hand that coordinated with the flowers in the planters (this one is similar). I like to choose a wreath that works for the season and the colors will look good against the door. Side note, I always get asked for this pink color and it is Beloved Pink (and I adore it)!
flowers
The problem with decorating for spring early is that it wouldn’t be smart to plant flowers (it will definitely be freezing here again). Plus, it can be tricky (or impossible) to plant something that will look good all year long. So instead, I opted for urn fillers– I got mine from Grandin Road and they look really realistic and high end.
Plus, I sincerely love how low maintenance they are! You just pop them into a planter and they look amazing. I am using two Katie Planters and love the white on white diamond pattern. So pretty!
doormat
For doormats, I’m still in love with the idea of layering a doormat over a rug. It just adds so much texture and interest! I used what I had on hand, and, of course, neither the rug or doormat are available anymore (sorry!).
So I rounded up a bunch that I think would look AMAZING together! For the first set- the doormats are a larger size at 24″x39″ so they need to be paired with a larger rug- 36″x48″ works nicely. For standard size doormats (18″x30″) it pairs well with a 2’x3′ rug.

I was looking for spring decor inspiration for my porch yesterday and never found anything that resonated with my style… until now. Thank you! Your home is my dream! I may have to buy rug combination #5 and #6 on the second picture. The woven rug is so cool!
