The Best Affordable Etsy Artists

Last month I talked about how to create a gallery wall on a budget. One of my suggestions is to go on Etsy and buy “printable” art. What that means is you pay for the file, it is electronically sent to you, and you print and frame it. From my experience, that’s the least expensive way to find cute, unique art. And it’s super fast too since you don’t have to wait around for a physical product to be shipped.

This morning I got this email-

I thought that was such a great question! So I figured that I’d do a round up of my favorite and the best affordable Etsy artists in case anyone else is in the market for some cute art that isn’t too expensive (less than $10 a piece). Let’s get started!

The Crown Prints

I have been a HUGE fan of Jenny’s art for years! I have it all over my house and always check her shop when I need new art. She has sales all of the time, plus her prints are priced around $6 a piece!!! I love her use of pinks and she has the cutest animal portraits!

My Paper House Shop

When I put together a gallery wall (or any grouping of art), I like at least 1/4 of the art to be abstracts to give your eye a place to rest. I love Albina’s shop because she offers lots of modern and moody abstracts that are gorgeous.

I’m loving the trend of using half circles in decor. What easier way to try that out than with at?! This artist, from Spain, has a beautiful collection of minimalist prints in their Etsy shop that feel fresh and cool.

Most of this shop is black and white beautiful Scandinavian art. I’m all about color, so I picked a few pieces in my favorite hues. The modern minimalist art will mix beautifully with other pieces in a gallery wall!

I love the soothing watercolor art from this Michigan shop. The colors are soft and you can see how the water and paint mix beautifully. She also has a Minted shop.

This shop is so unique, irreverent, and fun! Adding this art to your wall will show your cheeky side. I don’t own any of these pieces, but I’m seriously questioning why not?! I’ll have to remedy that.

If you know me, you know that I love adding whimsy to my home! Well, this shop is my match made in heaven- whimsical prints in dusty tones. Everything is so fun and modish- it was hard to narrow my picks down to 5.

One of my favorite things is a good illustration. These are ridiculously fun! Each piece has so much personality. Sara, the artist, is based in Milan Italy. I want to live in her vibrant world!

Beguima Studio

This shop is a sister and brother duo from Barcelona Spain. I love their colorful and graphic art. Much of their art has a bit of a rainbow theme- which you know I love! I own the swirl print but I think I need a few more pieces.

Here’s another illustrator with killer style! I am beyond impressed with her fun aesthetic and want her to draw my life. She’s from the UK and is all about the plant lady lifestyle (me too)!

If you still need more ideas, use the search bar on Etsy’s site. Search for “printable art” and add the color you’d like the art in or the medium (illustration, watercolor, oil), or the style of art (abstract, silhouette, landscape), or an object you’d like the art to be of (dog, fruit, botanicals). After you search, you can set perimeters on how much money you want to spend.

When I create a gallery wall, I’ll sometimes do a mix of art to make for an interesting wall hanging. I like to use abstracts, a landscape, graphic/typography art, fun objects, animals, a place I love. Then I will vary the sizes and the orientation (some horizontal and some vertical) to add more interest.

Other times I choose a theme for a wall– for my stairs I went with the colors of the rainbow as the theme. I’ve done travel walls, kid art walls, portrait walls, and all water color walls. There’s a ton of options! At the end of the day, if you love it, it’s right.

how to print?

So how to you print this art? Of course, you can print your art at home (most pieces are 5″x7″ or 8″x10″). But if you don’t have a printer at home, you’ll need to go to a shop to get it printed.

I’ve found a local printer who lets me email the file over. I specify the size and tell them I want it printed on white card stock. Then I go pick it up and pay for it. Usually 8×10’s are $1 and bigger pieces less than $5.

If you have a FedEx Office store, they can print it for you too (though it’ll be a bit more expensive than a local printer in my experience). You just need to save the file on a USB drive and bring it in. Walmart could print it on photo paper if you’d like to go that option.

Another idea is to pay for the art to be printed online and shipped to you. Shutterfly has tons of options for you to order framed art online, you just upload the print on their site. Amazon has a service called “Amazon Prints” where you can order prints too.

I just used a site called Frame it Easy to frame a bunch of art for my living room (I’ll be hanging those today so stay tuned)! I found the price really affordable and it was sooo convenient to use!
