I’ve been getting the same question over and over the past few days- where do you get your dresses? To be honest, talking about clothes isn’t super comfortable for me. I’m used to discussing home decor and DIY! But I definitely have a “uniform” so I thought I’d share where I shop and what I look for.
Earlier this week I talked about developing your own style in interiors. I mentioned how the style of what I wear strongly correlates with my decorating taste. They work together and they both tell the story of who I am.
my dress shopping rules
In the warmer months, I usually wear a dress 95% of the time. In the winter I’ll wear more jeans and leggings, but my preferred way of dressing is in a dress! I usually like to wear something that goes to my knees (or longer) so I can work or play with my son in it. Because of my shape, I find empire waste or fit and flare dresses to be the most flattering.
I like my dresses to have sleeves since, again, I find that looks best on my body. I do have some sleeveless dresses, but I usually wear those with a jean jacket in the fall and spring. For the color, I tend to pick pastels and I lean towards pink, blue, mint, and ivory. Though I do have some rainbow colored dresses too!
I usually buy a size medium dress. Though, depending on the reviews and cut, I will size down to a small sometimes.
P.S. I know I’m not a model. Just a real girl who likes pretty dresses. I love when the people I follow show up in their pictures- it helps me build a connection with them. I’ve been trying to be in the pictures more simply because it’s what I like to see so I figure others are the same.
where do you get your dresses?
Below is the answer to the question- where do you get your dresses? I put them in the post from where I shop to most to least. Price does matter to me, but I will definitely splurge for something special! Here’s my fave shops plus I linked to the dresses that I’d buy right now (aka my favorites from their whole site).
jessa kae
Jessa Kae is a Utah based boutique opened by the cutest blogger. She used to be a photographer and actually took my maternity photos! I love her cute dresses. I bought this pink gingham dress earlier this summer and get compliments whenever I wear it!
Roolee is a boutique based in Logan, Utah- where I used to live! There weren’t many cute places to shop, so this quickly became my favorite. They have a big online presence so you can order anything on their site. If I had the money, I’d buy most of their dresses- especially that rainbow one! I’m a big fan (and that buffalo check dress is one I own and one of my favorites!).

Citrus and lemon
Citrus and Lemon is an online only shop. They have some really cute dresses and I have a bunch from here too! They change out their inventory frequently so it’s fun to see what they just got in. Their prices are great too!
hope ave
dress 1 / dress 2 / dress 3
Hope Ave. is another clothing boutique. I used to work for a furniture shop and the same owners founded this shop too so I’ve been shopping there since it first opened.
clad and cloth
Clad and Cloth has lots of cute and unique dresses I love. They do collaborations with bloggers and it’s fun to see all the different styles from those.
target
I love a good Target run! Sometimes I’ll grab a dress here since the prices are good and theirs some pretty options. Some of their clothing lines are 30% off right now.
madewell
Madewell is my absolute favorite place for jeans (this style is my favorites since they are so flattering). They are on the pricy side, but have good sales to keep an eye out for.
chicwish
I bought a bridesmaids dress from Chicwish last year and still shop there once in awhile for special dresses.
Anthroplogie
Anthropologie used to be my favorite dress shop! I’ve slowed down clothing shopping there since their prices are a little high for my current clothing budget, but they sure make special clothes!
mod cloth
Mod Cloth has such cute retro options! I love their unique and quirky dresses best. They currently have 25% off select styles with code VOTE25.
asos
ASOS has such a huge inventory, it can be overwhelming to look through everything! But I’ve scored some great sale items and it was my favorite place to get maternity dresses. If you haven’t shopped with them before, you can get 15% off with code ASOSNEW15
Ok! There you have it! My favorite places to shop for dresses. I hope this was helpful. And if you’re not shopping right now, I totally get it. It’s a tricky time, but I was asked this so frequently that I felt a blog post was warranted even with everything going on right now.
a look back
For years, how I dress has been the easiest way I’ve been able to express myself. I actually used to dress with crazier patterns and colors when I wasn’t decorating as much! I thought I’d share a few pictures and we can walk down memory lane together.
Easter 2008. I was very proud of that cake I made! That floral dress was my favorite. I used to wear dresses with light cardigans. Chunky necklaces were a big trend in the early 2000’s and I was here for it!
Easter 2015. Belts used to be one of my favorite accessories. This rosette one was my fave. This was from when I mostly wore Anthropologie.
Easter 2016. I evidently love to dress up for this holiday. This big floral dress was one of my prized possessions. Why did I ever let this go?!
As you can see, I love to jump on a trend/accessorizing bandwagon! My favorite accessory right now is a boater hat. Urban Outfitters sells my favorite for $34.
I’ve tried to fill my closet with only items I wear over and over so I don’t actually shop for clothes that often. Really, I wear the same 12 or so dresses on repeat- lol! I totally believe in buying only what you LOVE which makes getting ready super easy. What are your dressing rules? Do you have a uniform too?

Thank you 🙏
I thought for sure NeeSees dresses would be on this list since they are Utah based! 🙂
I haven’t heard of them. I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for the recommendation!
Love your style and love seeing older pictures. You look like a completely different person with bangs!
Thanks Amy! I know, right? 🙈😂
