Right now we’re working on redoing our main bedroom and closet. I really want to fill the space with special pieces. For the closet, the main view will be a full length mirror and I fell in love with a clam shell looking mirror. But it’s pricey so I decided to make an Atoll Mirror Dupe. Want to see how I made my own version?!
Main Bedroom Plans
For the past month or so we’ve been tearing apart the bedroom on our main floor so we can redo it for the primary bedroom. It’s down to the studs and I’ve been slowly been planning all the fun stuff I’m going to do in there! Since it’s time to start putting it back together, I thought I’d share my main bedroom plans!
DIY Hand Painted Tiles
I’m currently redoing my main bedroom and I have a DIY fireplace planned. For that I’ve been wanting patterned tile. I couldn’t find anything affordable, so I thought I could make my own! After brainstorming a bunch of ideas, I thought of a way to make a durable and beautiful finish that’s tried and true. Ready to see how to make DIY hand painted tiles?!
DIY Rainbow Bookends
My son needed new shelves for his room (we ran out of room on the last shelves). I figured it’d be the perfect time to make DIY rainbow bookends as a gift! These are pretty easy to build- they’re quick and simple and look so cute on a shelf! Plus they’re functional as they keep books from falling over. Let’s get into the tutorial-
DIY Hat Stand
I’ve been looking for cute accessories for the closet I’m redoing. While at the antique shop, I saw lots of hat display stands. But they range from $30 to $125. I bought one, but after looking at it, I thought that I could easily make one with thrifted items. Here’s a tutorial for how to make a DIY hat stand.
How to Make a Ruffle Collar
It’s warming up outside and so it’s no longer “wear as big of a sweater as possible” season. I’m excited to have fun with fashion and layering on dresses! I’m loving the current trend of detachable statement collars- they add a fun element to outfits. So I thought I’d make a few. These are so easy to make so I thought I’d share how to make a ruffle collar.
I have a step by step tutorial for you including a video that should be helpful to show exactly how to make the ruffle collar. At the end I’ll show some outfit ideas if you like this look but aren’t quite sure how to create the layered look. Let’s get started!
How to Start Seeds
I’ve really been enjoying gardening. Each year I try to get a little better and so this year I thought I’d concentrate on starting seeds. The plan is that when our last frost finally hits, I’ll have plenty of plants ready to go. I also figure that it’s the least expensive way to fill a garden- each seed packet is a few dollars! And there’s so many more seed varieties that I can find than grown plants at my local nursery. So here’s how to start seeds.
How to Catalog Books
The other day I was wondering if there was a way to keep a record of my books. See, I go thrifting all the time and I don’t want to buy duplicate books. Plus, I really love my collection of DIY and home decor books so it felt right to have a way to document all of them. So I did it! I thought I’d show you how to catalog books in case you have a home library you’d like to catalog too.
DIY Pegboard Cross Stitch Wall Art
As a kid, I liked to cross stitch- it’s so simple and easy to do! Add it to a pegboard and you instantly have affordable large scale art! I always wanted to make big art with cross stitch so I finally got around to it. Here’s the tutorial on how to make a DIY pegboard cross stitch wall art if you want to try your hand at this project too.
How to Upholster a Chair
I bought the cutest bamboo chair for $85 at a vintage market last year. It works ok in my house, but I wanted to customize it to work better. In the past I hired a professional to re-upholster a chair, but wanted to see if I could do it myself. I thought I’d share how to upholster a chair in case you want to try this great way to upcycle an old piece of furniture.
