As you may know, I’ve been slowly updating my kitchen and little dining area. With the addition of a new table and chairs, I thought it was time to make my dining room feel a little more cozy for fall!
My favorite ways to transition my house over to the colder weather are adding thicker textiles, changing the scent of my candles, and doing lots of home projects to prepare our house for spending out time inside.

Now that I shared my thinking with prepping for the colder weeks ahead, I thought I’d share how I made my dining room cozy for fall.
First, I added a bench along the wall where my son sits. I was planning on building my own bench for here with storage, but with the vent on the floor there, storage didn’t make sense. So I found the perfect bench for here- and its affordable too!
In the fall, I like to transition my pillows. I like to use knits, faux furs, and linens with nice texture. This pink pillow is a fun new addition- the color is perfect and the styling with the big buttons on the front is adorable.
I am also really impressed by the quality of the knit pillow on the bench-it looks super expensive even though it isn’t!
For next to the bench, I added a basket with a throw blanket in case Don gets chilly while eating. Is there anything better than plaid for the colder months?! Plus this blanket is SO soft- perfect for cuddle weather!
autumn table setting
One of my favorite things is setting a pretty table! I have a good trick for you- if you want to add some good pattern or color to a table, use a melamine plate for the dinner plate. They are less expensive and come in more fun hues! I’m loving the floral pattern on these cuties!
For the top plate, I was super happy to find these fall appropriate appetizer plates! They come in a set of 6 and say “gather” “thankful” and “blessed” is gold brush lettering. These will definitely be coming out again for our Thanksgiving table!
Let’s talk about those cute utensils! I was on the hunt forever for a set of gold flatware, but had a hard time finding affordable ones. Well, these definitely foot the bill! They are on trend and will add a glam look to every table.
Speaking of a glam look, the honeycomb glassware is from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart! Surprising- right?! They have a bunch of items in stores, but there’s even more goodies online too. Plus Walmart does free two shipping on most items.
Last up, I wanted to share the gorgeous gold candle! It smells divine and you better bet that when it is all burned, I’ll be reusing the container as a vase!
