Eep! We are officially down to the wire with the master bedroom! Last week I made a list of everything we needed to accomplish and scheduled out a project for each day. It has sure helped me from feeling (too) overwhelmed. And thankfully, we’re mostly on schedule!
Looking to catch up on past master bedroom progress?
week 1 / week 2 / week 3 / week 4 / week 5 / week 6- Reveal
paint
This week, I started out by painting the walls Ultra Pure White by Behr.
For this room, I tried out some of the HANDy paint products. As a person who does a TON of painting (I’m probably painting something 5 days a week), I figured upgrading my tools would be smart. The pail fits nicely in my hand and the way you hold it keeps it from getting tired. The pail has a magnet so your paint brush doesn’t get in the paint when you’re not using it!
The paint tray is really nice too! Its deeper than most trays so it can hold more paint than most trays. There are nice big handles so its easy to move. There’s a notch in the end so your roller can sit on the shallow end. And again, there’s a magnet to hold a brush- which is SO nice! Anyway, is you’re a DIYer too- I’d definitely suggest checking these out!
shiplap ceiling
The shiplap ceiling went up this week! I’ve never used actual shiplap before (mine is from Metrie) and was so fast and easy to use! My husband installed a rail system (each board is screwed into an anchor). Then we screwed the shiplap on top of the rails. It went up pretty quickly!
wood floors
Probably the most exciting progress are the White Oak floors from Overstock that went in!!! Can I gush for a moment?! These are the most beautiful floors! I love the color- they’re a sandy grey. They’re a really nice neutral that feels current and fresh. I choose a wide plank and I love how they look in the room!
The walls being painted made such a difference! I love a fresh white room! The baseboards went in right before I took these pictures. I still need to caulk and paint them. They are super tall (over 7″) and feel right at home here! Most of the molding in our house is 7-10″, but this room only had quarter round in it.
The crown molding still needs to go in, and that will close the gap between the shiplap and the angled walls. Side note, crown molding is always tricky to install, but add in an angled wall and they are super tricky! Wish us luck! Or give me some hints on installing it! 😉
sneak peek
As you can see, we started installing the bed in here. And guys! It looks so, so good!!! I thought I’d give you a sneak peek so you can get as excited for the big reveal next week as I am!!!
tassel throw (no longer available) / tasseled Euro pillows (no longer available) / round velvet pillow (no longer available) / white ruched duvet cover / linen pillow cases(no longer available) / floral accent pillow / brass planters / white nightstand / bed / gold lamp
Can you even?! There’s a ton more furniture and decor that needs to go in, but it’s going to be goooood!!!
And a close up because I had to share this gorgeousness!!! Do I have you excited for next week and the final reveal?! Here’s what’s left on my to do list-
- caulk and paint baseboards
- build bookcases
- tear out electrical mini cupboard
- install the room
I can’t wait to share how it all turns out! Already, this room is feeling like heaven! Want to see how my friends are doing?!

Your room will be lovely! Thanks for sharing!
If you have more of that lovely wallpaper concider continue that all the way up to the shiplap over the bed. Give you an illusion of hight. For the molding issue towards the shiplap you need a special crown molding with a greater angle. 140 degrees or 145 degrees instead of the regular 90. Here in Sweden it is kind of hard to find nice once. I hope you have better luck in US.
Good luck with the project!
