In December, I started planning the decor for our Florida home and I have been really looking forward to sharing it with you!!! Above is the moodboard I came up with. The brass bed is definitely the star of the show! I was planning tropical wallpaper, but since we switched rooms with Don, that has been nixed until I can find a better place for it.
When we first arrived in Florida we were so excited! No more nights in hotels and driving all day! One problem, all of our furniture hadn’t arrived yet. Our desk came first and then a few days later our bed! One problem, our mattress hadn’t made it yet. So my husband, son and I were all sharing a crappy air mattress. #notfun
I ordered a box spring from Amazon. Have you seen the style where they ship in a small box and then you build them? They’re so awesome and great for mattresses in a box! Anyway, that arrived and I was so excited because we could finally use our new bed- yes, with an air mattress, lol!
It was a pretty exciting day when I could put everything together!
new gold bed!
Like I mentioned before, the brass bed is everything! It is from InspireQ and is called the Evie Canopy Bed. We got a queen size (what can I say, I like to cuddle 😉 ). It comes in around $750- aka, super affordable. I’m all about a high end glam look on a budget!
The upholstered headboard is 8 feet high and so it is absolutely the focal point of the room! The upholstery comes in grey, charcoal, and off-white. I choose off-white, to go with my light and airy look. The upholstered panels come off and would be super easy to re-upholster in a different fabric to easily change the whole look of the bed.
The light will be changing. This one is not my favorite- it has blue led lights and is so hard on the eyes.
The bed is sitting on a wall of windows. There is actually a section of dry wall between two windows that isn’t centered so I love that the bed covers that up! The blinds we have aren’t black out and you can see everything at night, so that’ll probably be the next addition in here. To be honest, we have Styrofoam in the windows as a place holder until we can get blinds- lol!
campaign night stand
Next to the bed, we have the cutest campaign night stand. Again this piece is from InspireQ and it comes in white or grey! First of all, let’s talk about the gold hardware- isn’t it stunning?! And so modern! I like that it coordinates with the bed but isn’t a complete set. The drawers open smoothly and the top one is lined with felt for jewelry or delicates. I just love details like that!
Aren’t they so pretty next to each other?! The nightstand is actually my husband’s side. Right now, I don’t have anything on my side. The plan is to add a small vanity and a chair so I have a place to do my makeup.
Lucy and Derek have loved that our bed is set-up so they have a spot for their sleeping between long walks and running around the backyard ;).
I’ve loved having the bed for reading and, let’s be honest, scrolling through Instagram at night. It’s the small things, am I right?!

conclusion
Pretty much, we are thrilled! I know that sounds a little silly to be so excited about a bed, but after 2 weeks of sleeping in a bed with Don who likes to kick you in the head, I am not exaggerating! We love, love the furniture (thanks InspireQ)! And I can’t wait to update you as we add the mattress and vanity.Side note, I got a message on Instagram from a follower with a question. She said one thing that I really wanted to share:
I actually thought you lived in a mansion like the other girls I follow, but when you gave the house tour I was so surprised and excited because I live in a small place too. I’m realizing its not the size but how you love your space.”
Yes! That is everything I believe! It is how you love your space! If you have a room in your house (maybe even your bedroom), maybe its time to make it special. Something you love to come home to.
