Hello there! Today is an exciting day because I am announcing the project I am doing for the One Room Challenge! If you haven’t heard of it, this is a fun challenge where a bunch of home décor bloggers take on a room and completely redo it over 6 weeks. You get to see the progress in real time and watch a room go from an idea to a 100% done room. It is so fun!
This year, I was on the fence about if I should participate- I’ve done a room every 6 months with the One Room Challenge since early 2016 and have loved the push to finish a room in such a short time frame. Some of my favorite rooms have come from this (like my bathroom and kitchen). However, I don’t really have a room that needs updating.
Then it came to me- what about our little patio?! It won’t be nearly as challenging as my kitchen (that was a stressful one), but it has potential to be a show stopper. Of course, I have my landlord’s permission to do this project (he looks at it as a big upgrade). Here are some before pictures:

As you can see, it sits right off of the pool. The walls are a bit of a mess with huge gaps between the plywood and bubbling paint. The floors are concrete and are just fine, but wouldn’t they be better in tile?! And the little table is sad and a little small for the space.
I’m planning on creating an outdoor oasis where we can enjoy lunch or dinner with our little family or friends in style. I’m dreaming of an extension of our home for some beautiful outdoor living- I’m thinking May will be the perfect pool month! Here is the mood board that shows you what I’ve envisioning:

I want to embrace a Florida Palm Beach Glam vibe. Pretty finishes, a dose of whimsy, and of course, pink and gold! The floor will be the biggest undertaking and so I am thinking tile with a bold pattern that wows. The Chippendale outdoor chairs are everything I’ve ever dreamed of! Add in the pink cushion and I couldn’t be more excited!
floor plan
Here is a floor plan of the space so you can see what will go where:
The dining table and chairs will be in the center with the bar cart behind it. A planter with palm trees will go in each corner. It is a small space, but I think it’ll be full of style!
For the next six weeks, every Thursday I will have an update on how the patio is getting transformed. Summer is right around the corner so I figure everyone will want to start thinking about spending time outside. I can’t wait to share the process with you and hope it is helpful to inspire some outdoor decorating!
