Lately, I’ve been falling in love with dried flowers. They’ve made a glorious comeback and I want to share why I love them and how you can incorporate them into your decor. Here’s the skinny on the dried flowers trend!
Dried Flowers Trend
In the last little while, a cute trend has been popping up in my Instagram feed- dried flowers! It totally takes me back to the days when I’d press flowers in books when I was younger.
Even though it first made its way onto the scene last year, it’s still going pretty strong and I’m seeing it used in tons of popular places (I show you a couple below).
But as you probably know drying flowers started way before last year. Actually, it first dates back to Egyptian times. At funerals, each dried flower had a different meaning for various religious symbols. Later in Victorian times, pressing flowers in books or using them in arrangements was also super popular. But recently, dried flowers have gotten a makeover…

I mean, is that not the prettiest?! The added colors bring a lot of personality and beauty that I just can’t get enough of. It’s so much prettier than what I first imagined when I heard they had made a comeback!
Why I Love It
Personally, I’m into dried flowers for a few reasons.
First, they last a long time…possibly forever if you take care of them!
While I love a beautiful fresh bouquet, they just don’t last very long. And I always hate watching them die and throwing them away afterward.
But dried flowers last.
As you might know, we bought a second home in Florida this year. Currently, we rent our Utah house out as an Airbnb. But when we moved, I ended up having to give away all my living plants and it honestly broke my heart. I’m such a plant lady that it really bummed me out.
So, in our new home I’ve been looking for ways to bring in florals that I won’t have to get rid of. Like the white sun palms you can see above. And the diy framed pressed flowers I did in our hallway.

But another awesome thing is that you don’t have to maintain them! Other than dusting them once in a while, which is really easy (you carefully blow dry them on the lowest, coolest setting. Details here). Honestly, I’ve accidentally killed a few plants in my day. So, dried flowers take that pressure off. Cause they’re already dead lol.
Also, they’re more sustainable. If you buy a plastic plant, it’s possible it’ll end up in a landfill one day and then it’ll be hundreds of years before it decomposes. But dried flowers will easily decompose.
Finally, dried flowers are on trend. So, it’s a fun way to have beautiful, naturals florals in your home, and be in style.
How to Decorate with Dried Flowers
1 yellow herbarium / 2 banskia bunch / 3 bunny tail / 4 hydrangea / 5 mini bouquets / 6 leonurus / 7 palmetto / 8 blue herbarium / 9 gypsophilia / 10 pampas grass / 11 pink herbarium / 12 craspedia / 13 bouquet with vase / 14 pink sunpalms / 15 sunpalm / 16 dried eucalyptus / 17 purple herbarium / 18 pink ruscus leaves / 19 rustic bouquet / 20 white herbarium / 21 fern
If you want to decorate with dried flowers, here are a few ideas for how to add them to your decor.
Bouquets
Bouquets are probably the go-to for dried flower designs. You could dry some of your own by hanging a bouquet upside down in a closet or dark area. Or if you want to buy one, these mini bouquets (#5) are so cute!
Pressed Flowers
If you love pressing your own flowers in books or flower presses, you can frame them like I did in my hallway. Or, if you prefer to buy them pre-pressed, you can find some like #17 above.
Single Stems or Bundles
A look that I LOVE is preserving a single stem and adding it as the focal point in a pretty vase. Like #15, a white sun palm leaf.
Or if you prefer a little bundle of greenery, you could go with something like #12, the craspedia. Or #3 pink bunny tail bundle is super adorable!
Side note, if you want this look in a less fragile way, you can spray paint faux stems for a similar look. I show you how to do that here.
Conclusion
Dried flowers have made a huge comeback recently! And I love how they’re actually a practical, eco-friendly way to jump onto a pretty decor trend. What do you think about dried flowers? Tell me in the comments!
