Thanks to Overstock for teaming up with me on this post!
A few months ago, I redid my dining room and worked with Overstock.com on the chandelier. It was the perfect finishing touch for the room and I loved working with their team. So you can imagine how excited I was when they invited me, with four other decor bloggers, for their #OverstockStyle Weekend!

It was hosted in Salt Lake (only 10 minutes from my house). For the weekend they put us up in the Monaco Hotel. I got a little staycation which was nice even though I did miss my guys a bit. The weekend was full of surprises. My favorite one from the first day was the Dream House.
overstock dream house
Overstock took us to a house in Salt Lake and all we knew was that we’d be eating there. You guys, it was so so exciting when we realized that they had decorated each room with one of the bloggers as inspiration! All of the items are from Overstock and I have to tell you, that house looked good!!!
Side note, one of my favorite parts of the weekend was getting to know the super talented design bloggers who joined me. I’ve been an avid blog reader for years before starting my own blog, so it was really cool for me to meet the bloggers. The first room we entered was inspired by Cassandra from coco + kelley:
coco + kelley living room
leather bench / cowhide rug / wall art- wood with gold / coffee table / triangle wall art / abstract olive wall art / gold accent chair / midcentury sofa with wood / linen sofa / loop decorative pillow / cotton textured decorative pillow / white sand vase / geo grey planters set of 3 /
This room was so stunning! First of all, that view! We all fell in love with the mid-century sofa with the wood. This room had such great texture and a beautiful layering of neutrals. Also, that cow hide rug with the gold flakes was everything #wishlist
little green notebook master bedroom
linen throw pillow / pendant lights / oak arm chair / sheepskin rug / stripe decorative pillow / sheets / pillow shams / natural taupe decorative pillow / white canvas wall art / blue rug /
Jenny from Little Green Notebook was one of my favorite bloggers to meet. I’ve been following her for years and am so, so inspired by the way she shows DIY as so doable. Her room looked just like her signature style- really eclectic, collected, out of the box, but super approachable. Isn’t it so fun how they put the pendant lights over the nightstands instead of traditional lamps?!
at home with ashley breakfast nook
grey vase set of three / natural basket (holding the tree) / white and gold bowl / wood credenza / white dishes / chandelier / dining chairs / dining table / circle wall art / swirl abstract art (top left) / dot abstract art (bottom left) / napkins / gold planter / pink rug / blue vase (on table) / clay vase (on floor) / clay vase large / white pear shaped vase (on table) / glasses /
Next up was my room! I could see it walking into the house and thought “I love this house already” even before I knew this room was inspired by me. Let’s be real- having someone design a room inspired by me was so cool! I felt very grateful to be included. Ready for some detail photos?
They had a plant in a basket– I’ve been wanting to do that in my house and now I really have to! Isn’t the texture of the basket beautiful next to the drapes, the rug, and the floors?!
It was really fun talking to Overstock’s art director Jon Taylor Carter about how he and his team did the rooms. We sent in mood boards previously (we weren’t sure why) and they used the themes from them to put together everyone’s spaces. The Overstock team did such an amazing job!
simply grove dining room
rug / sculpture / bench / buffet / tea candle holders (on bench) / white candle holder / white dishes / dining table / flatware / rosy day wall art / circle wall art / dining chairs / orange napkins / metal planters set of 2 / gold table lamp / white and grey vase / terracotta large vase /
Next, we got to see Kirsten’s room from Simply Grove. This is the room we would have our evening dinners at and it worked so perfectly with the architecture of the house. First of all, those chairs are ridiculously comfy and they swivel which is perfect for dinner parties. Second, how great is the vibe in here?! It’s a beautiful blend of mid-century, Scandinavian, and a touch of bohemian. If I could scoop up one thing from this room to take home, it’d be those plant stands!
old brand new living room
coffee table / bird art / oval platter / tribal triangle rug / leaf pillow / spotted pillow / embroidered black and white pillow / gold floor lamp / wood table lamp / upholstered foot stool / bone inlay box / baskets with lids set of 3 / tribal black and taupe pillow / tribal diamond pillow / woven chair / fringe pillow / planter / oval basket / beaded pillow / agate wood credenza / sofa / black faux leather chair / gold arch mirror / circle art / wool tassel grey rug / reversible tassel rug /
The last room we went in was inspired by Dabito from Old Brand New. It is full on bohemian with layered textures, bright colors, and so much personality. This is always where the party started and ended- which is pretty much perfectly Dabito. P.s. do you spy that Agate credenza in the back corner? I fell in love! It has some pink on it and would be so perfect for an entry way!
overstock headquarters
Earlier in the day, before we went to the design house, we toured the Overstock headquarters, Peace Coliseum. It was really interesting to learn more about them. They started out by selling overstocked goods, but now most of their inventory is totally new merchandise and they have more than 3 million products! I’ll be honest, by the end of our tour I loved Overstock more than before.
Here are some of my favorite things- they treat their employees well. I talked to one of their employees and she told me that when she first started, her daughter had some health problems and they let her leave work when she needed to be with her family. Not all companies are like that, and as a mom I really appreciate that.
They have a beautiful work space. I know this sounds silly, but I’m a girl who believes that surrounding yourself in a good environment leads to inner calm and peace. Plus, they feed their employees really well with locally sourced food.
At the end of our tour they shared with us their newly updated Overstock iPhone app that features an Augmented Reality. We got to test it out and it is so cool! You can view thousands of home products and they show up on the screen as a 3D model!
That way you can see the Overstock pieces alongside your own furniture and make sure they fit and look beautiful. The whole idea is to make online shopping easier (which I love!).
Have you ever bought something online and it showed up super tiny or not at all how you envisioned it? Me too! Here’s a little video I took of the app so you can see it in action!
Thanks again to Overstock for the dream of a weekend! I still have one more post to share with the design challenge we did- stay tuned!
Love all of this! Can you tell me how you hung the grey curtains int eh breakfast nook (and also where they are from)? Big thanks,
Sam
Hi Sam, the grey curtains in the breakfast nook are from Overstock. I’m not 100% sure how they hung them as I wasn’t there for the install, just the reveal. Let me see if I can find more information.
I was about to ask the same question! Can you tell us which style for Curtains?
We absolutely love your blog and this post! You created a stunning design and we love the layout you created with our iNSPIRE Q dining chairs (: Look forward to seeing more of your posts and maybe collaborating some time!
Thanks! The Overstock team actually designed the room. They designed it around me. I love the chairs! I’d love to collaborate in the future!
