These past few weeks, I’ve been working on Don’s playhouse. I thought I’d redo a little table I found thrifting (it was $4!) for his space. While I share the quick makeover, I thought I’d also talk about chalk paint vs. latex paint. The differences, the pros and cons and why I paint furniture with chalk paint.
How to Paint a Scalloped Door Frame
Welp, I’m over here still working on my bathroom. And I have a fun update today! I shared last week about how I want to add scallops to the space, and yesterday it happened! Want to see how to paint a scalloped door frame?!
How to Make an Outdoor Planter Umbrella Stand
On the 4th of July, we hosted a little BBQ and right before everyone arrived, our umbrella stand broke. Through the whole party, the umbrella kept almost falling over- so annoying. So we decided to use the top from the old stand to make a new one. Pretty recently, we made an umbrella stand that worked like an end table. So this time I thought I’d share hot to make an outdoor planter umbrella stand.
How to Paint a Clawfoot Tub with Rainbow Stripes
Yesterday I told you all about how I was bored with my bathroom. Today I got started on painting the tub. I figured it’d be fun to rainbow it (is that how you say it?) And, my gosh, I love it! Before I gush too much, here’s how to paint a clawfoot tub with rainbow stripes.
My Bathroom Plans
Well, a few days ago I started working on my bathroom. About two years ago I totally redid the room, but I’ve become bored with the wallpaper. I know it’s silly to change my mind so soon, but it wasn’t really sticking to the texture on the wall. So! I’m making changes. And I’ve been stumped on the design, but I think I’ve figured it out. Let’s walk through my bathroom plans!
Building a Playhouse- The Frame
Last week, after sharing my ideas for building a playhouse, my husband and I started on it! It’s not done yet, but I thought I’d share the weekly progress so you can follow along as we put it together. Let’s start at the beginning (a very good place to start) with building a playhouse, the frame.
How Much does an Instagram sponsored post cost?
This year and last, I’ve spoken at a blogging conference on how to create a media kit and how much money influencers should charge for sponsored posts. The nerdy side of me loves discussing these numbers! Mostly, I like helping my fellow blogging friends know what to charge. This year, I thought, maybe I could share how much an Instagram sponsored post cost. I know this isn’t my normal DIY post, but I do feel like it’s important to discuss.
Why? I think being transparent about money is one of the key things our society needs to embrace if we want things to be equitable. The rates bloggers charge are kept secret. Because of this, brands pay a wide variety of prices. My hope is to help create a standard to make things more fair for everyone.
So, if you don’t like talking about money, feel free to skip this blog post. I know lots of people are here for the fun house pictures and those will be back tomorrow! Today, let’s talk shop. The truth is that people get paid to post on Instagram and their blog. I’ve talked before about sponsored posts, but I thought we could dive deeper and chat about costs.
Front Door Decor- Hello Wreath
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut. All opinions are 100% mine.
I needed a new wreath from door. So I thought it would be fun to try something new! I love the trend of modern wreaths, so I thought I’d put my spin on it! Rainbows sounded like the perfect motif and I wanted to try to use wooden beads since that’s a fun look too. I hope you’ll love this front door decor- hello wreath. [Read more…]
DIY Fence Mural
Last week I shared that we built a privacy fence in our backyard. We ended up doing a 48′ section and LOVE having it up! But I was craving doing something fun with it! Because who says you have to have a boring fence?! I came up with an inexpensive idea to create a DIY fence mural with flowers and a quote. I’m so excited to show you how this comes together!
Rainbow DIY Frosted Glass
In my She Shed I have a French door that leads to an unfinished part of the shed where we keep our lawn mower and extra wood. It’s not pretty so I’ve been brainstorming ways to create privacy between the two spaces. I thought it would be fun to add color! So here’s my rainbow DIY frosted glass project!
Years ago, Emily Henderson added this faux stained look to her studio. Ever since then, it’s been on my DIY bucket list. That’s totally a real thing and mine is very long, lol!

Here’s the door- you can tell that although the door is cute, the view isn’t. I used to have a shower curtain hanging in this space, but in the winter we added this door. It was finally time for it’s upgrade!
