Last year while we worked hard on the patio, we laid pavers down for the fire pit area. It’s much improved to how it used to look, but I see SO many opportunities to elevate it even more. I thought I’d share those plans plus a round up of affordable fire pits in case you’re looking for one too!
Rainbow Baby’s Breath Centerpiece
We’ve been spending SO much time outside- the weather has been a dream! So I’ve been scheming up ways to make our patio even prettier. I thought a centerpiece that could live outside would be fun! Especially if I could make it colorful and incorporate the soft foliage trend. Here’s how to make a rainbow baby’s breath centerpiece.
Can you use Wallpaper in Bathrooms?
I’ve put wallpaper in 5 bathrooms now. And every time, I get the same question- “can I put wallpaper in bathrooms?” Which I totally get since it can be scary- no one wants to put up wallpaper just to have it peel up or fall off the wall due to humidity from the shower. So I thought I’d answer that question and give some guidelines so it’s a successful project.
How to Get Started Second Hand Shopping
I love thrift shopping and antiquing and well, any type of second hand shopping! Why? The thrill of the hunt, the character the peaces add to my home, the amazing deals I can score, how good it is for the environment. There’s honestly nothing better than finding the exact special item I needed. Because of all these reasons and more, I thought I’d share how to get started second hand shopping.
If going into a thrift store and finding something you’ll actually use and love in your home is scary for you (which I totally understand), this post is for you!
Rainbow Tie Dye Dress + Napkins
Lately tie dye has been a big trend. At first I wasn’t really been into it- I didn’t need tie dye sweats. Then I thought- maybe if I dyed something that I’d want to wear in rainbow, then I could get onboard with this trend! To I went out and bought a dress and had the best time making it over! Here is my take on this trend- a rainbow tie dye dress!
[Read more…]DIY Arbor
I’ve been working hard on my backyard! Here’s the last project I crossed off the list. A lot of the space looks great from last year, but there’s a whole section that needs lots of love. We’re going to address one of those by building a DIY arbor. The fun part of this project is that it mostly uses recycled materials I had on hand! I’ll share how to make one from scratch too.
15 Outdoor Accessories
Here in Logan, Utah it is officially the time where it feels like heaven to be outside. The temperature is perfect and since we’re spending more time than usual at home this year, might as well spruce up the backyard! We started with a big project of cleaning up the yard, but I’m also loving building on top of what we did last year. I’ve been itching to add more outdoor accessories to make the space feel cozy and intimate and cute.
For example, yesterday, I repotted the pots from my rainbow terra cotta hanging garden. Last year I did herbs, but didn’t actually use them for cooking. So this time around I thought I’d just make it pretty. Can you tell I tried to coordinate the blooms with the pot color?! It’s hard to see in this picture, but in person it’s a fun detail! P.s. I used these hooks to hang affordable pots that I painted.

Franklin Mint Jelly Molds
At the end of May, I started second hand shopping once things started opening up. And boy, did it feel good! I honestly missed it. While shopping ones day, I spotted a Franklin mint jelly mold set and can I tell you- I was a smitten kitten! They were hanging on the wall and looked adorable. One was chipped so I didn’t get it. But I couldn’t get them out of my mind!
The set I saw was $55 so I started searching for similar options on Etsy and eBay and used that price as a reference point. They sell for around $25 each one online. Hmmmmm, too expensive for my frugal taste. Then I saw a whole set of 5 on shopgoodwill.com for $40 shipped. SOLD! I ordered those so fast!
DIY Birdhouse on a Pole
We got to our Utah home at the beginning of June. We had left in the middle of winter and hired a landscaper to take care of the yard while it was rented out as an Air BNB. Our last guest mentioned the yard looking a little unkept, but we were totally unprepared for coming home to a yard full of weeds. See how we fixed that and made a DIY birdhouse on a pole.
How to Clean an Outdoor Rug + Round up
Whenever I share a picture of my patio with my outdoor rugs out, I get a million questions- do you leave it outside all the time? How does it look? What’s the secret to having an outdoor rug and keeping it looking great? So I thought I’d share some tips for how to clean an outdoor rug and maintain it.
Because the thing about an outdoor rug is that it 100% pulls the space together! It makes it feel comfy and intimate like a room. An outdoor rug finishes off a patio or deck, but it can be a bit of work to keep it from getting ruined by the elements. Here are some guidelines for keeping it looking good.
Note, a special thank you goes out to my Instagram readers for sharing their tips with me so I could make this post as informative as possible!
