
When I was a kid, my favorite way to spend a sunny summer day was in the water. Running through the sprinklers, a kiddies pool, the water park- anything to cool off and have fun! Turns out, that’s still what I want to do! And how I want to spend summer with my son! But instead of a kiddie pool, how about an actual metal pool that I can re-use year after year?
At the beginning of the summer, I spotted my first stock tank pool online and fell in love. A stock tank is a metal round (or oval) trough for drinking water for livestock. For years, they’ve been used for backyard swimming pools (sometimes they’re called “red neck hot tubs”). Lately, they’ve become popular since they can be customized to match a house and really add to a backyard while still being affordable.
After getting my family on board with this project, we drove to our local farming supply store to find our new pool! Note, you can check inventory online for CAL Ranch and Tractor Supply if you have those in your area (they both carry stock tank pools). On Friday, I had the amazing opportunity to have my home shot for a magazine. I spent two weeks prepping my house and countless hours cleaning, but when everything was finally ready, what a pinch me moment! A photographer, stylist, and photography assistant flew into Utah to take pictures of my house. I still can’t believe it!
At the end of July 2018 we moved into our current house! We LOVE this home, but getting here was not easy. My husband and I are both self-employed and I’d always heard that because of that, getting a mortgage would be tricky, but I didn’t realize HOW tricky! 
Alright, I have a bad habit that I need to confess- I hate painting ceilings. You have to empty out the whole room and then paint above your head- no thanks! But my living room and kitchen ceilings were so bad.The ceilings were the original peach color, super dirty, and the edges had white paint from painting the trim.

First things first, I’m not selling my house. BUT we have a magazine coming over to shoot most of the rooms this Friday… The pressure is on! So I started making lists of things that needed repaired. You know, the issues that have been nagging me that I haven’t gotten around to fixing. I want my house to look amazing- every detail! So I made a list of the most important repairs before listing your house (or just photographing it 😉 ).
