I recently put my pretty board games on my hidden bookshelf door. But I didn’t want to ruin the aesthetic by adding the mix matched other board games I have. So I’m making them over by putting them in a book box and creating custom labels! I’m so excited to turn board games to display books!
I’m hosting an event in Charleston, South Carolina this week. So I thought I could create oyster shell place cards to add an elegant and beauty touch to the welcome dinner table setting. This would be great for special occasions like a wedding or baby shower. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to make this oyster shell place cards DIY.
I love the playroom in my house, but with the angled ceilings, it’s hard to get as much tall storage as I’d like. Then I had the idea- why not convert the door to the closet into a DIY hidden bookcase door?! That way I get storage AND it can be a fun element. What kid doesn’t want a secret door? I figure it’ll be perfect for hide and go seek. Now let’s get to building!
Note, this is a challenging project. I’d consider this an advanced DIY build because of the moving of the bookcase, the routing of the hinge, and the precision at building a custom piece of furniture that also acts as a door.
We’ve had the Ikea Mosslanda picture ledges for a few years now. I love them because they’re affordable and a great way to show off books without taking up much space. But they are simple, so today I’m going to add some split wood balls to give the bobbin look to them. Plus I’ll also paint to add rainbow colors to this Ikea picture ledge hack.
I’ve been slowly working on my yard and I thought the next thing I could tackle is hiding the trash can and recycling bin from view on the side of the house. They aren’t great for curb appeal and I thought it’d be an easy project. I want this DIY garbage can enclosure to blend in with the fence and look like an addition that matches the vibe of our exterior space.
Note, using these same steps would be great for hiding pool equipment or an air conditioner!
I’ve been wanting to make a cute dress all from bandanas! And, of course, in pastel rainbow colors. So I’ve been thrifting ones I can find in the colors I want. This week I decided to make my dress! I’m going to walk you through the process in case you want to try this bandana dress DIY.

I wanted to include an inspiration image. The amazing @psychic.outlaw makes and sells bandana dresses that are just gorgeous! She inspired me with the idea to use bandanas to make a dress. I’ll make it mine own though!
We’ve owned our house for 5 years now! And when we bought it, the backyard was SO neglected. So we’ve spent the summers working on the space. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty dang magical. I thought it’d be fun to do a yard tour and show some fun before and after pictures.
House details- Location Logan, Utah. Yard size- a little less than an acre. Zone 5b and 6a. House age- 1905. Owned the house- 5 years.
I recently toured a historic house of an artist- the Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Each door had a totally unique door frame! The one that stuck out to me most had shells around the frame. How fun?! So I came home inspired and realized that my she shed would be the perfect place to add DIY shell mosaic trim!

The house is on the coast and the owners loved to collect shells! When friends would visit they’d bring shells as a gift. And before dinner, everyone would find shells on the beach before eating. Sounds like a good life to me!
I thought it’d be fun to take some ostrich feathers to make a DIY palm tree. This is the perfect project for a fun party backdrop decorations.
