DIY Shell Mosaic Trim

I recently toured a historic house of an artist- the Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Each door had a totally unique door frame! The one that stuck out to me most had shells around the frame. How fun?! So I came home inspired and realized that my she shed would be the perfect place to add DIY shell mosaic trim!

Here’s a picture of the sea shell mosaic trim that inspired this project from The Bonnet House.

The house is on the coast and the owners loved to collect shells! When friends would visit they’d bring shells as a gift. And before dinner, everyone would find shells on the beach before eating. Sounds like a good life to me!

DIY Palm Tree

I thought it’d be fun to take some ostrich feathers to make a DIY palm tree. This is the perfect project for a fun party backdrop decorations. Or it also works for homemade decor in a room that looks high end and expensive. Let me show you the inspiration, how I made the faux palm tree, and a video so you can put this together too.

Framed Chinoiserie Panels

I love the look of framed chinoiserie panels! They’re a traditional Grandmillenial vibe that is very high end looking. Usually you’ll see them with gold bamboo frames that are extremely expensive. So, I decided to DIY some framed chinoiserie panels to save some money and I thought I could share a tutorial. Ready to get started?!

Note, I’ve read a bunch of tutorials on how to make Chinoiserie panels and all of them are simply instructions to buy a frame and putting the wallpaper inside. That is not a DIY project- that’s a simple assembly- lol. So this project will be actually making a bamboo frame and how to mount and hang the chinoiserie panels.

Here’s my inspiration image. A set of two beautiful chinoiserie prints that have been framed in gold bamboo frames.

Tiled File Cabinet Planter

I have a little spot in my yard that’d be perfect for a planter. But the problem is, planters are expensive! So instead of buying a big fancy one, we’re going to thrift a filing cabinet and repurpose it to be a planter! Plus I’m going to tile it to make it even fancier. DIY Garden Beds

5 weeks ago, I talked my husband into building me garden beds as his Mother’s Day gift to me. Well, he made them and we planted everything in time for it to be a great gift! But it wasn’t until today that I put the finishing touches on them. Honestly, I love these DIY garden beds and am SO glad we got them in early this year so we can enjoy them through the fall and for many years to come.

The first year we bought this house, I put a garden in the ground in another location. A few things grew, but mostly it was a fail. Last year I didn’t do a garden since we didn’t get to this house after spending the winter in Florida until June. At that point, it felt too late.

All that to say, having a successful garden now feels so great! And I love tending to it! Want to hear how we made it?

Ikea Alex Desk Hack

For my son Don’s room I want to add a desk where he can do homework and draw. Plus I want some storage for art supplies. So I decided to do an Ikea Alex desk hack! I’ll use the Alex drawers and upgrade them to look like a dollhouse shop. I’m so excited for this project and showing exactly how to make it.
