For my son’s room I want to upgrade his kid’s table that he’s outgrown for an adult size dining table where he can play Lego. I thought I’d do an Ikea table hack and take the plain Ingo table and add some wavy trim to it to make it much more fun (while still being functional).
I have long loved the look of Love Shack Fancy giant bows they use to decorate their stores! They actually have one for sale, but it’s super expensive! So I decided to make my own large bow to have on my Christmas tree. Afterwards, I plan on hanging it as decoration on the wall. It’s almost holiday time and I want to show you a really great DIY gift idea- a bookshelf dollhouse! In my son’s room we have a bunch of Dollhouse furniture items. I thought next up, I could use the Billy Bookcase to make it into a house shape. The roof section will be for miniatures and the rest will be for toy storage!
When we bought our house, the porch was painted red. So I painted over it to make it grey. Well, every year it chips and every year I give it a new coat of paint. I was sick of that process and want something that’ll be beautiful and classic for my old house. So we’re laying brick over the cement! Well, today is the day! I’m using brick veneers (also known as thin bricks) from Old Mill Brick. I’m going with the color Vintage Oak because I like that they’re a warm color without being too red. I like that the bricks look older which works nicely for my house since it was built in 1905.
I love old homes and after traveling to Charleston and seeing their beautiful historic homes with brick porches, I figured it’d be a great solution to my paint issue.

I love the playroom in my house, but with the angled ceilings, it’s hard to get as much tall storage as I’d like. Then I had the idea- why not convert the door to the closet into a DIY hidden bookcase door?! That way I get storage AND it can be a fun element. What kid doesn’t want a secret door? Note, this is a challenging project. I’d consider this an advanced DIY build because of the moving of the bookcase, the routing of the hinge, and the precision at building a custom piece of furniture that also acts as a door.
We’ve had the Ikea Mosslanda picture ledges for a few years now. I love them because they’re affordable and a great way to show off books without taking up much space. But they are simple, so today I’m going to add some split wood balls to give the bobbin look to them. Plus I’ll also paint to add rainbow colors to this Ikea picture ledge hack.
I’ve been slowly working on my yard and I thought the next thing I could tackle is hiding the trash can and recycling bin from view on the side of the house. They aren’t great for curb appeal and I thought it’d be an easy project. I want this DIY garbage can enclosure to blend in with the fence and look like an addition that matches the vibe of our exterior space.
Note, using these same steps would be great for hiding pool equipment or an air conditioner!
