As we’ve been working on the kitchen for the past two months, I’ve been keeping track of every penny we’ve spent on the renovation. From screws for the studs to paint for the baseboards, everything will be counted for. I love to hear how much real renovations cost so I thought I’d breakdown my kitchen renovation costs.
DIY Holly Wreath- Why Cricut is a Great Holiday Gift
I wanted to make a cute wreath for my front door. When I was making the pastel Christmas round-up, I saw the cutest berry wreath. And I thought- I could make that! I like making a new wreath each year. Last year was the house village wreath. This year, here’s how to make a diy holly wreath.
DIY Banquette Seating IKEA Hack
Last year I helped my sister redo her kitchen. One of the projects I did in there was to take an IKEA Kallax bookcase and repurpose it to be the base for banquette seating. I did half of the project and her husband did the other of that. Because of that, the IKEA hack bench seat tutorial was good, but I’ve been wanting to add more details. Here’s an updated DIY banquette seating IKEA hack.
DIY Village Advent Calendar
Every year, one of my favorite things to do with Don during the holidays is an advent calendar. He gets a piece of chocolate and a mini toy and he loves it and it’s such a fun way to count down to the big day. This year, I thought it’d be fun to make a bunch of houses to go on our colorful shelves. Here’s how I made my DIY village advent calendar.

Christmas Card Holder
Last year I made a bunch of items for my Christmas decor- it was so fun! One thing I wanted to make was a card holder, but I wasn’t really inspired by anything. How could I make something that goes with my decor and is unique? This year I came up with a simple idea that I’m really excited to share with you for a DIY Christmas card holder!
Pastel Christmas
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Which means decorating for the holidays. Every year I change up my decor a little so I’m always on the look out for cute new pieces to add to my collection. And, of course, I like sticking to my pastel Christmas colors. If you’re looking to add some of the softer colors to your home, I’ve rounded up lots of pretties!
Thanksgiving Tablescape DIY’s
Thanksgiving is a few days away. Honestly, it’s a hard year. For the first time ever, we won’t be celebrating with extended family. Don has requested to zoom his grandma while he eats. He misses her so. Sigh. Though this year feels so much different, I’m still going to do my best to make it special! I thought I’d share with you some Thanksgiving tablescape DIY’s.
Oh Christmas Tree
Thanksgiving is next week and well, I’ve had a Christmas tree sitting in my garage and couldn’t wait any longer to put it up! Every year I put my tree up sometime in November, but this time felt extra special since I’ve never decorated this house for the holidays. And after 2020 being so dreadful, this girl needed some magic!
Kitchen Renovation Update
On October 21st, we started renovation on our kitchen. My goal then (and still kind of now) is to finish before Thanksgiving. That’d be a 5 week time period from demo to completion. Which is crazy for a kitchen! But can we do it?! I want to show you where we are now, tell you the good news, and go over the to do list we still need to tackle for this kitchen renovation update.
Then you can decide if you think we can make it for Thanksgiving!
