Last week I shared that we built a privacy fence in our backyard. We ended up doing a 48′ section and LOVE having it up! But I was craving doing something fun with it! Because who says you have to have a boring fence?! I came up with an inexpensive idea to create a DIY fence mural with flowers and a quote. I’m so excited to show you how this comes together!
Rainbow DIY Frosted Glass
In my She Shed I have a French door that leads to an unfinished part of the shed where we keep our lawn mower and extra wood. It’s not pretty so I’ve been brainstorming ways to create privacy between the two spaces. I thought it would be fun to add color! So here’s my rainbow DIY frosted glass project!
Years ago, Emily Henderson added this faux stained look to her studio. Ever since then, it’s been on my DIY bucket list. That’s totally a real thing and mine is very long, lol!

Here’s the door- you can tell that although the door is cute, the view isn’t. I used to have a shower curtain hanging in this space, but in the winter we added this door. It was finally time for it’s upgrade!
Our Next Project- A Playhouse
Since we’ve been working on our backyard, we decided the next step should be a playhouse for Don! He’s so excited and really, so am I. I never had a playhouse as a kid so I get to live vicariously through him. We spent yesterday planning out the house and dreaming about it. I thought I’d share some plans and our first piece of furniture we got for it!
How to Build a Privacy Fence
We spend most of our time in our backyard right now since the weather is so divine. The problem though, is that there’s no privacy! You can see through all the neighbors yards and well, it kind of makes having a nice place to eat and swim and relax not as enjoyable. So we finally started fixing that! Here’s how to build a privacy fence.
Florida Kitchen Plans- Mint Creme Sink
Thank you to Elkay® for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
This is an exciting week, because I thought I’d share the plans for my Florida kitchen renovation! If you remember, I designed the space around Elkay’s new Mint Creme Quartz Luxe® sink. It is the dreamiest pastel mint color and just arrived, so I thought I’d share how cute it is –
Yay!!! Isn’t it so beautiful?! I just love that color and know it’ll be perfect here! It exactly matches my style – I couldn’t have designed it better to fit the aesthetics in here. Let me show you a better view –
It’s a lighter tone than my stove and fridge, which I feel will go together nicely. And it will obviously look amazing once it’s actually in place.
Starting in a few months, once everything should be open again 🤞🏻, I’ll begin the kitchen remodel. And it’ll all revolve around the Elkay Mint Creme sink! It’s NOW OFFICIALLY available for purchase! Here’s the link to check it out. I also thought I’d share a picture of the sink in a kitchen so you can visualize it better.

It makes my heart skip a beat! It’s so good. One of the things I love about Elkay is that they’re innovative and brave enough to sell such a fun color. They also have a red and navy blue version of this sink if those are more your speed. And if you don’t have a full kitchen renovation planned, you can always upgrade just your sink like I did here. It’ll elevate the whole room.
ALL ABOUT THE QUARTZ LUXE SINK IN MINT CRÈME
I’m excited about the Quartz Luxe sink in Mint Creme because the color will be gorgeous, and it’s also an amazing sink! There are lots of benefits since it’s made of natural quartz. It’s heat resistant (up to 535°F) as well as stain and smudge resistant. No scratches in this sink, please!
Quartz is also non-porous, so it repels food and dirt and there’s less scrubbing needed to keep it clean. Because who wants to spend extra time wiping out their sink?! Not me. A friend once explained why she likes high-end surfaces in her kitchen and it’s because they’re easier to clean and they stay looking beautiful longer. This sink will check those boxes. Three cheers to that!
Mint Creme will be available in a bunch of different sizes – 8 in total, ranging from bar/prep to kitchen sinks – so there’ll be lots of great spots (like your laundry room) to install one of these if you love the color too! There will also be a single bowl or double bowls available as well.

my Florida kitchen plans
Obviously, the sink will be the heart of the kitchen. And I wanted to share how the space will be laid out. Here’s how it’s currently laid out-
The issue is that it’s just not enough counter space. One counter always has the dish drying rack so we only have one tiny counter for meal creation. And as we live in the house longer, I think we’ll need more storage. I’d also like the kitchen to open to the living room. To me, the living room feels too large and the kitchen too big. So hopefully this’ll help balance those out-
It’ll be about $1,750 just to move the electrical box off the wall between the living room and kitchen, but then we should be able to open up that wall to make way for a big kitchen island. That’ll give us way more counter space. The stove and fridge and sink will stay where they are. With the new island, I think the space will be much more modernized.
With our recent termite damage in the kitchen, it’s now vital to switch out the cabinet frames. They dent really easily because of the interior damage and I worry about the structural integrity of the frames. So this renovation just shot to the top of our priority list.
scallops in the kitchen
One thing I really want to do is to keep the vibe of having a retro kitchen. This house was built in 1951 and I want the kitchen design to have a nod to its original era. That’s another reason I’m excited about using the Mint Creme Elkay sink – the color will be perfect for a vintage looking space! I’ve been thinking about incorporating scallops into a new oven hood. I thought I would try to see how I like scallops in the space and do a simple test. I ordered these scallops off Etsy and they were shipped right to my house. I figured I could try them out for a really affordable price tag and see what I thought.
Plus, maybe this’ll give someone else an idea for how to do this in their space, too. Scallops are trending right now and I personally love how girly they are. Once they arrived, I cut them to size and painted them white.
Once they were painted and dry, I added construction adhesive to the edges.
While the adhesive set, I held them in place with painter’s tape. I hung one above the sink.
The other piece was installed above the stove. That one didn’t sit flush with the cabinets with just the glue, so I used books to push the piece of scalloped wood against the cabinets while the glue dried.
after
Here’s the scallops hung above the sink. Doesn’t it look so cute?! I also switched out the faucet to a brass one. This’ll be used in the new kitchen, and I think it’ll be so perfect with the Mint Creme sink!
This was a fun test because I now know that I love the scallops over the stove! And now I can enjoy this until the renovation begins.
Scallop Decor Roundup
Scallops are probably my favorite trend of 2020. They’re preppy and vintage feeling and so sweet. If you’re not ready to put up scalloped trim, here’s some other decor you could add to your house to test out the trend!
1 wicker frame / 2 resin frame / 3 accent table / 4 armchair / 5 plates / 6 umbrella / 7 tray / 8 cake stand / 9 rug / 10 light fixture / 11 lamb basket / 12 quilt / 13 hand towels / 14 storage mirror / 15 throw pillow / 16 shelves / 17 sconce / 18 tea towel / 19 headboard / 20 wooden mirror / 21 sheet set
I’d love to hear your thoughts- are you excited for the new kitchen layout? How great is the Mint Creme sink from Elkay?! And what do you think about using the scallops in the kitchen- dated or fresh and fun?

Pretty and Affordable Fire Pits
Last year while we worked hard on the patio, we laid pavers down for the fire pit area. It’s much improved to how it used to look, but I see SO many opportunities to elevate it even more. I thought I’d share those plans plus a round up of affordable fire pits in case you’re looking for one too!
Rainbow Baby’s Breath Centerpiece
We’ve been spending SO much time outside- the weather has been a dream! So I’ve been scheming up ways to make our patio even prettier. I thought a centerpiece that could live outside would be fun! Especially if I could make it colorful and incorporate the soft foliage trend. Here’s how to make a rainbow baby’s breath centerpiece.
Can you use Wallpaper in Bathrooms?
I’ve put wallpaper in 5 bathrooms now. And every time, I get the same question- “can I put wallpaper in bathrooms?” Which I totally get since it can be scary- no one wants to put up wallpaper just to have it peel up or fall off the wall due to humidity from the shower. So I thought I’d answer that question and give some guidelines so it’s a successful project.
How to Get Started Second Hand Shopping
I love thrift shopping and antiquing and well, any type of second hand shopping! Why? The thrill of the hunt, the character the peaces add to my home, the amazing deals I can score, how good it is for the environment. There’s honestly nothing better than finding the exact special item I needed. Because of all these reasons and more, I thought I’d share how to get started second hand shopping.
If going into a thrift store and finding something you’ll actually use and love in your home is scary for you (which I totally understand), this post is for you!
Rainbow Tie Dye Dress + Napkins
Lately tie dye has been a big trend. At first I wasn’t really been into it- I didn’t need tie dye sweats. Then I thought- maybe if I dyed something that I’d want to wear in rainbow, then I could get onboard with this trend! To I went out and bought a dress and had the best time making it over! Here is my take on this trend- a rainbow tie dye dress!
