At the end of May, my family and I moved from Hollywood Florida to our home in Logan Utah. We’re just spending the summer fixing things up at our Air BNB in Utah. Until then, this house will be rented out (here’s the listing if you’re interested in staying in it!). I thought I’d show you the before and afters. We moved in at the beginning of January and these were taken at the end of May. So about 5 months of work. Ready to see my Florida home tour?!
Florida House tour
Let’s start with the video tour so you get an overview on what I did. Then, I’ll dive in with more details below
If the video doesn’t work here, you can watch it on YouTube here. I’d be over the moon happy if you subscribed to my YouTube channel! Videos are actually released on YouTube first (usually the night before they’re published on the blog). Thank you!
exterior

For the exterior of the house, we painted it white and the door is now pink. The biggest update is the new hurricane windows! They added a lot of value to the house and made it so that the black awnings could come down. Oh! And you can’t forget the Little Library out front!
It’s already so much more my style! I have plans to enhance the porch by painting the stone, adding columns, and decorative trim. I’d love to add a picket fence to the front when our budget allows us to as well! We planted two fruit trees in front- a lemon and orange tree. I’m hoping this is our winter house until we retire and I like to imagine those trees full grown.
living room

drapes / drape rods / Trelliage wall treatment / rug / coffee table / sofa / pillows / sconces / bench / modern art / hutch with the colorful accessories / pink paint / white paint / pink monstera leaves / rainbow door tassel / end tables, desk, oval mirror, and plant stand are thrifted / pink floor lamp / craft the rainbow book / craft the seasons book / the pink book / flea market style book / pink palm tree / diy framed tv / Florida art
The living room is one of my favorite places to be. The house is small- less than 900 square feet, but the living room is spacious. The makeover in here started with the trellis (or trelliage if you’re fancy) going up on the wall. The furniture is a mix of new, high quality items and thrifted finds that I painted.
In here, I’m dreaming about replacing the tile with wood tiles. When we do our kitchen remodel, I’m wanting to open the wall the desk is on into the kitchen. And I really need to switch out that rug for something lighter.
main bedroom
drapes / drape rods / wallpaper / white chest / headboard / bed frame in pine / monogrammed sheets / palm stitched quilt / lamp / rug / ceiling fan / woven wall hanging / desk / mirror / basket for plant / desk chair is thrifted / striped mini art / pink flamingo / the pink book / craft the seasons book / white dresser / modern art 1/ modern art 2 / flamingo art / most accessories are thrifted / lumbar pillow and white flowers were Marshalls finds /
Mine and my husband’s bedroom was the first room we tackled when we moved it. It’s been our haven! Since we only have one good sized bathroom, I really used that vanity for putting on makeup daily. Our house is small and part of what I loved about that is that it’s manageable too- I made this bed every day and that really brought me joy.
What would I change in here? I’d probably switch the wallpaper for something lighter. This is a little too dark for my taste. I’d like to install crown molding in here and the whole house. For the most part, this room is pretty perfect the way it is.
don’s room
tassel drapes / quilt / bed / nightstand / Dino planters / large dinosaur stuffed animals / t rex lamp / rainbow shelves / play house / Dino wallpaper
My 5 year old son Don’s room is one of my favorite spaces in the house. That colorful dinosaur wallpaper makes me so happy! We based the room off his love for all things dinosaur and used the colors from the wallpaper through the room. One day, we’ll take out the play house and put in a rug and table for play time.
bathroom
bathroom cabinet diy / gold light / wallpaper / soap dispenser / gold mirror / faucet / gold shelf brackets / shower curtain / shower curtain rings / DIY bath plaster stool / modern art / dried sun palm /
The main bathroom in our house is pretty petite, but it’s all we really need. This was the last room I finished working on (I was literally wallpapering on the day we moved out- lol). I kept the 1950’s tile and tried to modernize it with the wallpaper and resurfacing the cabinet. It’s now full of personality!
One day, probably in a few years, we’ll probably do a full gut job in here. The problem is that the previous owner painted the tile and tub and it’s becoming obvious that paint job won’t stand up to the test of time. Plus, we had a bad termite issue in here so it’d be nice to get this room down to the studs and add more wood to the existing studs to stabilize them.
dining room and kitchen
bird mural wallpaper / oak dining table / pink dining chairs / chandelier / door and cabinet pink paint- Cupcake Pink / wall white paint- Ultra Pure White / spice houses/ gold shelf brackets / landscape art / rug runner / stove / fridge / faucet
OMG I love my dining room and kitchen! The dining room design in particular makes me so happy with that wallpaper! The kitchen is looking pretty cute. I do have a full remodel planned for August. But the colors I tested out in the one day $100 kitchen update project showed me that I love what I have planned with the pink lowers and white uppers!
In the dining room, I have plans to extend the wallpaper. I also want to put in banquette seating.
And then then kitchen will be torn down. This was another place where the termites were a HUGE issue and the cabinet frame dents easily because of the damage. So for structural reasons, tearing down the old cabinets is a priority. Plus it’ll be SO nice to expand for more counter top space.
powder room

wallpaper / mirror / chandelier / swan faucet / fabric for sink skirt / soap dispenser /
Redoing the powder room was pretty satisfying. I did it in the midst of the pandemic and on days that I was SO sad and depressed from some personal things going on. I remember working in here while feeling like I could barely go on. It’s hard to share those things, but I love that such a beautiful room came of that pain.
It felt good to work instead of sitting on the sofa trying to avoid my sadness. DIY is honestly my therapy because it gives me time to think while moving my body and feeling my emotions. The only things I might change in here one day is the rainbow art (it’s a little too childish for in here) and the flooring.
patio
settee / chair / table / elephant end table / umbrella / pink rug / sofa set / umbrella stand
And the patio! Aww! I love this space- especially the rainbow mural! We got most of the furniture in at the beginning of quarantine and spent SO much time out here! There were days when the weather was good and we spent hours and hours enjoying the shade of our mango tree.
Thinking back on it, we redid most of this house during the pandemic. It was hard to get materials and mentally, it was challenging since the world was so scary. But despite those issues, I’m so proud of what my husband and I created. When we couldn’t go to the beach or parks or really anywhere besides the grocery store, this was our sanctuary.
We’re in no way done with this house, I have lots of fun projects planned! But I thought it’d be fun to show you the progress we made over the past 5 months. I’m so proud of this tiny home!
What room is your favorite? Have you taken any of these ideas and used them in your house? I’d love to hear your thoughts! And thank you for following along- it means so much to me to be able to do these projects and share them with you.

Your home is super cute 🙂 Love you site too. I am learning so much about decorating and blogging through your site 🙂 Can I ask where you buy faux flowers to decorate. I can never seem to find such pretty colors.
Thank you Divya! Here’s a link for the flowers I buy, there are also links to how you can make your own 😉https://athomewithashley.com/dried-flowers-trend/
