I was feeling like the wall my TV is on was a little boring. I usually like gallery walls around a TV, but with the pictures on the stairs it was too much. Instead, I decided to go for trim, a library light, and painting the cabinet for a fun pop of color. I thought I’d give some tips for how to decorate around a TV while I show how I changed mine up.
We live in a 1905 house and when we moved in three years ago, I painted my son’s floors white. It is a pain to clean and looks pretty rough, so I thought I’d update the floors with vinyl plank flooring? Why- it’ll look beautiful, it’s easy to install, it cleans well, and is durable. My bathroom is cute, but I thought it was missing some pattern. So to add personality to my rainbow bathroom, I choose to wallpaper the ceiling! Using a china cabinet in your house might seem like an old fashioned idea, but you can’t get a bigger storage solution for your buck! I looked for a few months for a used china cabinet and saw them going for at most $150, but frequently given away for free. If you’re looking for extra storage and a fun piece of furniture to makeover and refinish, consider painting a china cabinet!
I bought my china cabinet for $125- such a good price for a quality vintage piece! I knew I needed a big piece with storage on the bottom (for my crafts), and display on top.
The scale is perfect for the room and it looks much better than my old kitchen cabinets stacked. I thought I could create a built in with them, but that didn’t work out, so the China cabinet was a better solution!
I love our backyard pergola except one thing- there’s no shade. But I’m a DIYer, so I figured that I could make my own cover for the pergola. And then I thought- how could I put my own spin on it? So, of course, I’m going to dye the shades to make them rainbow! Here’s how I made my rainbow DIY pergola shade-
