a home decor blog, making it pretty one space at a time
Hey guys! Lately I’ve been thinking about the little things that just bring more fun to my life. And something that I secretly enjoy is having simple luxuries around the house. You know, things you don’t actually need but they’re there to just be pretty and make you happy! [Read more…]
I’ll be the first to admit- process has been slow to start on the patio. But we have officially dove in! We have friends coming to visit in a few weeks so things should be coming together quickly now! The hope is that a lot of the work will be done before their arrival. The first thing that really needed to happen is a fix for the walls- let me show you the issue:

Hi Friends! I’ve been getting a TON of questions over on Instagram about my drapes. I thought I’d (finally) share my tutorial for how I customized some boring Amazon black out drapes to work in my living and dining room. Plus, keep reading for some light bulb tips. [Read more…]
I’ve been meaning to write a post on how we have been liking Florida since we moved here in mid-January. I still get questions about how we’re liking it. I also get lots of questions about our favorite family activities so I’ve included some of those too. The move from Utah to Florida was a big one so I thought I’d dive in and share all about it today!
We went to Pinto’s Farm for Easter
My husband and I have been married 10.5 years and for the last 9, we lived in the same condo. We loved that place, but we were itching for a change. Winter is not fun in Utah (for us, at least)- there’s snow and because of the way Salt Lake is shaped with the mountains on one side and the lake on the other, it traps in bad air. It actually gets unhealthy to go outside. [Read more…]
I am working on my patio and I am on a budget. IBUT I still want it super cute! I have a table coming from Overstock, but I was in dire need of cute outdoor chairs. My wish list for the chairs was the following- white, bamboo detail, affordable. So I checked out my favorite place for a good bargain find- Craigslist. [Read more…]
In 2008 I was a wedding planner and can I tell you, I loved it! Almost everything about it was fun for me- but the planning, that was the best! I’d work with the bride to coordinate the flowers to match the cake to look amazing with the decorations. I honestly miss being able to see new trends in the wedding industry and being able to implement them.
But why can’t I?! I figured I would take one of my favorite current looks (wreath backdrops), put it up in my house, and share the DIY. Its a win win situation. I get to have decorating fun and you get inspiration for your next birthday party / wedding / baby shower/ whatever you feel like doing. Let’s get started!

I am a work from home mom with a young son and the truth is that we need to get out and socialize more! To do that, I’ve started organizing play dates for Don and I. The hope is that he plays with a friend and I get to have adult conversation at the same time- win win!

A few days ago I shared with you my new blush sofa! I am thrilled with how it is looking in my living room, but to be honest, the room needed some more finishing details to call the room “done.” I teamed up with Overstock to show you how I was able to use $500 to completely check this room off my to do list!
Hi! Earlier this week I shared a roundup of my favorite 25 DIY play kitchens. Above is the kitchen I made my son when he was 1. I LOVED working on it, (and he has since had the best time playing with it). But to be honest, it was a lot of work. The total came to $70- which is amazing! I’ll be honest, I did wonder if I could have bought one for a similar price and much less work. [Read more…]
It is officially week two of the One Room Challenge! For this week, I wanted to dive in a little behind the “why” of my design. I shared this mood board last week, but the truth is that a lot goes into compiling the items on the board (this is version 7 of it!) and I thought I’d let you in on my thinking process.
