Why hello! Another project I’m going to be working on is my bathroom. Actually, it already has some beautiful blue tile from the 1950s that I LOVE. But the rest of the room needs some updating. So today I want to show you how to update a bathroom without changing the tile.
Is It Bad to Paint Wood Furniture?
Hello! So, lately on my Instagram stories I’ve been sharing how I’m refreshing a vintage, wooden record player with paint. It’s been so fun to transform a $30 thrift store piece of furniture that was begging for a second change. One of my readers told me that they didn’t think I should be painting the wood. So, today I thought I’d share my thoughts on if is it bad to paint wood furniture.
Ok- let’s make this short. Do what you want that makes you happy and works in your house. The end. Lol- let’s dive in deeper.
DIY Trelliage Lattice Wall
Hi friends! Remember a few weeks ago when I became obsessed with Trelliage and wrote up a post all about my love (and the history) for them? Well I did it! I installed them in my house and we figured it out and today I want to teach you how too! Because I’m nice like that ;). And well, I couldn’t find another tutorial so hopefully this DIY Trelliage lattice wall post is helpful!
I’m mostly excited about this post because usually these Trelliage walls are completely custom. They’re made from lattice boards and cut to size for each space they’re in. Which isn’t accessible for most of us. And I wanted the look! So here’s a way that any handy person can replicate. Yay for design for everyone!
The Best Thrift Stores in the US
To start off, I’m so excited to share this list with you! I get asked ALL the time for thrift store recommendations. A reader suggested I poll my audience. So last week, I asked my readers where their favorite thrift shops are. And they really delivered! Get ready for a gigantic compilation of all the best thrift stores. But not just across the US…in a few other countries, too!
Modern Medicine Cabinets (A 2021 Roundup)
Hi friends! So I’m getting really excited about our bathroom plans. And one key thing I’m on the lookout for is a good medicine cabinet. You know, something with both a mirror and storage that doesn’t look like it came from the 80s?π So I found a lot of good ones and put them together in the modern medicine cabinet roundup.
The Cutest Drew Barrymore Home Decor
Well hello! Currently I’m working on my living room. And one of the first things I was dying to do was get new drapes. So I found some that were super affordable and also so cute at Wal-Mart! But it turns out they’re part of a gorgeous collection that I couldn’t get enough of! So I rounded up the cutest Drew Barrymore home decor.
The Prettiest Bed Frame Roundup
One of the first rooms in my new house that I want to tackle is the master bedroom. After I found a pretty head board, I really didn’t want to go with a plain metal frame. So I actually found a bunch of gorgeous (and affordable!) bed frames to match it. I gathered them all here in the prettiest bed frame roundup.
Supplies Needed to Chalk Paint
A little over a week ago, we moved into our new Florida House! We only brought the items that would fit in the back of our truck and, well, it wasn’t much. I didn’t pack any chalk paint and since I’ve been thrifting like a crazy person, I needed a way to redo all of the furniture I’ve been buying!
Since I was buying all new items, I thought I would put together a guide on what to supplies needed to chalk paint. There are so many products- it can be overwhelming to know what to buy! I’ve been an avid chalk painter for 2 years now and do a few projects each month. I thought I would recommend my must haves.
Also, if you’re a newbie to chalk painting, you’ll want to check out my Chalk Paint 101 post. It goes into why chalk paint is so great and why you want to use it on furniture!
Note, these are all Dixie Belle Chalk Paint items since they’re my favorite chalk paint company. Also, keep reading to the end for a sneak peek of my living room makeover!
Can you Wallpaper over Textured Walls?
Over the past few days I’ve been wallpapering the main bedroom in our new house. It’s coming along so well! The number one question I’ve been getting as I’ve shared then progress on Instagram is- can you wallpaper over textured walls? [Read more…]
Arch Mirror Roundup
I’ve been busy wallpapering my master bedroom. I’m trying to get it all ready for once the bed arrives that we can move right in! That day can’t come soon enough- sleeping on an air mattress for long isn’t ideal. If you want a sneak peek into the progress, follow along on Instagram stories– the palm wallpaper is so fun!
In the the middle of my wallpapering, our sofa was delivered! This was a super exciting development- having a soft place to sit feels amazing. It’s funny how living without any furniture sure makes you grateful for it- lol! Anyway, I wanted to share the sofa and coffee table that we got along with the mood board for the living room.

It’s a pretty big room- I’m thinking about doing a Trelliage wall treatment in white and white. I like a more neutral living room and then layering color with a rug and accessories. We have a wall that would be perfect for built in bookcases- maybe I can incorporate a desk too? The living room has no lighting so I need to add sconces or lamps. Here’s how it looks empty-

I’m thinking the entertainment center will go on this wall next to the front door.
The sofa will go on this wall with a chair and accent tables. I cannot wait to switch out these drapes.
One of the things I’m dying to add to our new home is an arched mirror! It’d be perfect in the living room next to the front door. Also, it’s going to be a big trend this year, so I think it’d be fun to try one out in our space. I gathered up the prettiest ones I could find for you here in this arch mirror roundup in case you want to add one to your house too.
