I’ve been working on redoing the hall/butler’s pantry in my house. It started as a dark space and project, by project it’s being transformed! Awhile ago, I saw on Joanna Gaine’s Instagram an oversized letter board. Personally, I think this will be the latest letter board trend! I decided to make my own for this hallway. Here’s her’s:

The tile in my butler’s pantry is in rough shape! But I don’t want to replace it (yet). The floor is connected to the bathroom and I need to figure out a solution to moving the claw foot tub before I can re-tile both rooms. In the bathroom, I used peel and stick tile (which worked great)! But I wanted to do something different in here- something affordable without replacing the tile.
So what did I do? I painted the tile with a stencil so that it looks like cement tiles! It was A LOT of work, but it was affordable! And a great solution for floors you’re not ready to do a full renovation on! [Read more…]
Hi friends! I have been working on the little hallway between my kitchen and bathroom. My house was built in 1905 so it has some quirky corners. I call this my butler’s pantry (even though it’s just used for linen and cleaning supply storage. But, hey, if a girl wants to feel fancy, who cares about technicalities?! 😉
After painting the wall with stripes, I was ready to move on to painting the cabinets (the wood stain isn’t my style). Previously, I used chalk paint to paint my kitchen cabinets and I LOVED working with it! But I wanted to try working with latex paint and compare it for you. [Read more…]

Then I found places in my house where I could implement them. For this project, I decided it’d be perfect in my butler’s pantry. Above the creepy stairs leading to our basement are a series of tiny shelves that I lovingly refer to as my pantry. I’ve never had a pantry before, so I’ll take it! Honestly, our kitchen is huge and we could probably fit the food in our cabinets, but all of the uppers have glass fronts, so I prefer to store all the food in one (concealed) spot.
And guys, this pantry is SCARY! The paint is brown and its dark and the whole thing is just gross and sad. But I was DETERMINED to make it better. And dare I say, Pinterest pretty?! Here’s the before:
