Its the most wonderful time of the year! I put up my Christmas tree and I am so excited to share it with you! I’ll also be showing my whole colorful and bright living room decor. Let’s get started!
At our last house, we had a 6 foot tree, but our ceilings are so much taller in this house. So I upgraded our tree to a 7 and a half foot white flocked tree from Grandin Road. This tree is so beautiful and full! Its a white tree with white lights and softly flocked. I love it!
The majority of the ornaments are from Grandin Road too! Most of them are from the Merry and Bright collection. They are glass and the prettiest colors! They are glam looking and perfect for my rainbow themed tree. The other literal stars on the tree are the Starbursts– they come in a set of three and are the perfect retro addition!
I put the ornaments on the tree in rainbow order. You kind of have to squint to see it, but isn’t it fun and subtle?! Pink, gold, green, and then blue. I think the tasseled tree skirt is the perfect accent- mostly white with the colorful tassels.
I found a vintage mid century brass deer on Etsy. I’ve wanted one of these for years! It adds a bit of whimsey to the tree. There’s a few similar ones on Etsy that are priced nicely.
On the chair next to the tree, I added this cute holly jolly pillow. The colors are so fun and the texture is perfect.
Besides my tree, this is my favorite part of my living room Christmas decor! The bottle brush trees are from Hobby Lobby with deer toys from Don’s collection ;). I made the art behind the tree- it says “the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear.” Aka a quote from Elf (the best Christmas movie ever).
The Let it Snow banner was an old West Elm banner. Though its pretty easy to make your own. Below that is a garland from felt balls that I strung. They were a gift, but Michaels has a similar one.
The colorful advent calendar was from Target a few years ago. And the nativity was from a thrift store that my sister bought me. Isn’t this wall so colorful and fun?!
I had fun decorating the media center under the TV! To the right is my Christmas village. I made it from chipboard houses that I painted and decorated. Here’s the instructions. I love that they were really affordable to make and are child friendly. Don plays here all of the time- mostly driving cars through the snow.
On the left side are a few golden nutcrackers. They were from my local grocery store- Smith’s and no longer available. Behind them are some holiday art I helped design with Mixbook. Stay tuned for more information on those!
The wood burning stove was a little tricky for me. This was my first year decorating this house and I wasn’t sure if I’d do anything here. But I needed a place to display the beautiful tassel stockings, so I decided to go for it!
The garlands are from Michaels and are beyond perfect for this colorful room! I also grabbed the sequin tree there too. The art is also from Mixbook- I’ll have a blog post soon with details on it.
The rainbow felt trees are a super simple DIY (and affordable too!). Here’s the instructions on those-

Last week I shared the reveal of my bathroom! The feedback on it has been so positive- thank you! I was a little surprised when the number one question I got was how much it cost. But, I totally get it! I love to hear the bottom line too! So I thought I’d share a full breakdown of the costs for you.

You can see from this list that I definitely chose to splurge on some items (like the wallpaper and vanity) and then save on others (like painting the tub and putting in the peel and stick floors). Another thing to note is that I already owned most of the art and accessories from my last bathroom. Reusing those items helped me spend less money!
One day I’ll pay someone to move the tub, tear out the floor, subfloor, the floor that is under that (yep- there’s two sets of floors!), and re-tile the floors. I’ll also add tile to the bottom half of the walls at that point. Dealing with moving the tub and the costs associated with it were too much for me now. But I think its ok to do what you can with renovations and then save up and finish later.
Almost exactly a year ago, I remodeled the bathroom in my last home. I also shared the cost breakdown on that space here. I thought I’d add it in case anyone is interested in how that bathroom added up! Here are some tips I have on how to do bathroom renovations on a budget!

Today is such an exciting day! I get to share how my master bedroom came out! We finished building the last of the bookcases and installing crown molding on Sunday and then installed the room. I’m pretty happy with how colorful, textural, bright, and happy this room turned out!

Don’s room is finally complete! The last time I shared on here, we had just finished the cloud mural and we were ready to add the furnishings back in. I had the idea to do the install while Don was in preschool and when he arrived, we did a big reveal. I think Don was a little overwhelmed at the big change and said he wasn’t that impressed- lol!
But, I love the room and he does too now! Are you ready to see how it turned out?
Eep! We are officially down to the wire with the master bedroom! Last week I made a list of everything we needed to accomplish and scheduled out a project for each day. It has sure helped me from feeling (too) overwhelmed. And thankfully, we’re mostly on schedule!
