Every year I am super interested to hear what Pantone chooses as the color of the year. Pantone’s pick definitely influences trends and can be a good forecaster of what is to come. This year they chose Living Coral as the 2019 color of the year and I was pleasantly surprised! Especially after last year’s bold Ultra Violet that seemed really tricky to decorate with. [Read more…]
How I Paid off my Student Loans
A few years ago, my husband and I were in A LOT of debt! Like, more than $40,000 worth of debt! It was overwhelming and at the time, we were happy to pay the minimum and tread water. And then one day, I was over it. We worked hard, but all of our money was going to pay off this mountain of debt. I was ready to change.

1 Gingham Pillow

I love a good gingham pillow! Plus this one comes in a bunch of beautiful colors! I thought I’d spice this one up a bit by sewing on some appliqués. Here’s the tutorial-
Modern Appliqué Patch Pillow
DIY tutorial for a modern appliqué patch pillow
Materials
- 1 Gingham Pillow
- 1 Set of Floral Patches
- 1 Set of Butterfly Patches
Tools
- Iron
- Hot Glue Gun
Instructions
- Start with a plain pillow

- Figure out how you're going to arrange your patches

- Iron or Glue or Sew on the patches to the pillow cover. I sewed the main floral patch and it took over an hour so you can use glue to save time

- Put the pillow back in the pillow case and enjoy!

2 Geometric Picture Frame
This is the most unique picture frame I’ve ever seen! The base is a gold geometric stand and the picture goes between two pieces of glass. This would be great to give a friend with the picture of the two of you!
3 Elephant Planter
I think every hostess would like a plant or flowers. Put them in a cute planter like this ceramic elephant planter and anyone would be thrilled to receive this!
4 Wood Tray
Every home can use another tray. Especially one like this wood tray– it adds texture and warmth to any space! Its heavy duty and could work in a ton of different ways- a row of candles on a table, a fruit bowl, fresh flowers would be divine. Or you could use this to hold the rest of your gifts.
5 Candle
A candle is always a safe hostess gift. This one in particular is an aromatherapy candle and smells divine! I like to choose a candle for hosts in the same colors of her house. Pretty much a guarantee that she’ll love it!
6 Marble Coasters
These coasters are SO pretty! I think they’ll work in a ton of homes. Maybe give these with your host’s favorite drink? What a great gift!
7 Paper Towel Holder
If your friend or family member doesn’t have a pretty paper towel holder, make sure to bring this to the next party she hosts. Its made of real marble (!!!), is affordable, and looks SO pretty on a kitchen counter!
8 and 9 Cook Book Holder and Cook Book
This cook book holder would be an amazing gift for your friend who is a cook. It is made from wood and marble and is absolutely gorgeous! Add in a cookbook that you think they’ll love and its beyond perfect. Bonus points that the cookbook holder is a great stand for a tablet for online recipes too.
Happy gifting! Let me know which is your favorite option!
