When we were planning our move from Utah to Florida we were a little nervous about the car ride. After all, it was 40 hours of driving! With a toddler, two dogs, and limited space (as our car was jam packed with everything we owned) we wondered how we’d survive the whole thing!

Last week, on our way from Utah to Florida, we stopped by Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas. You know, Joanna and Chip Gaines’ (from Fixer Upper) shop. Before going, I had a friend on Facebook tell me that its super busy at all times and not too enjoyable because there are people and lines for everything everywhere.
I was prepared to make it as fun as possible, but my expectations were low. Spoiler alert, I loved it! We went right when it opened on a weekday and it wasn’t crowded at all. I almost cried seeing the silos. For me, that little spot symbolized people dreaming big and making their wishes happen. That really resonates with me!

After my last post where I talked about donating at least half of my stuff in preparation for our move, I got so many questions and emails about how I did it. I guess that January is a good time to talk about decluttering since everyone is in the organizing mood.
To be honest though, I definitely didn’t organize my stuff. It was already organized- everything was in nice bins and labeled, but I had so many things that I just didn’t need or use anymore. What I needed was to downsize my stuff and moving was the perfect excuse to do it!
See, we only could keep what would fit in the back of our car to bring to Florida. The rest of the stuff needed to be stored. And to store something for 5 months meant that I had to love it. I couldn’t hold on to stuff that didn’t suit me for my life right now. So decluttering was all about having a mind shift from “do I have room for this?” to “do I love this and need this?”
In August, we got a new sofa (which we LOVE), but it didn’t look great with our existing black end table. The table is high quality with excellent storage so I wasn’t ready to get rid of it. I thought maybe I could cover it and do a little DIY (killing two birds with one stone- such a gross saying, but you know what I mean).
After about a month of prepping, we are finally out of our house and on the road to Florida (you can watch my Instagram stories for highlights from the trip)! It was SO much work getting our house ready. I wanted to share what we did in case you are also prepping for a move.

Happy Monday! Today we are officially starting on our big road trip from Utah to Florida (we are moving to Miami over the winter- more details here)! We are taking 7 days and going at a leisurely pace both for the benefit of my dogs and son. We have lots of fun stops planned out and I will be sharing the highlights on my Instagram stories if you want to follow along.

Since we are moving next week (!!!) I thought I would take you on a tour of my house! I haven’t done a full house tour since I started the blog in 2015, so I thought I’d do it now. My husband took these photos a few days ago so this is how our house really is (or was, we packed a bunch of stuff up). Let’s get started!

2017 was a seriously busy year for my home with remodeling. Here are the big projects I completed last year:
In May I completed my kitchen remodel. It was absolutely the biggest project I’ve ever tackled and I am so happy with the made over space. The cabinets are SO much more functional. I adore the farm sink (and am grateful that the white sink that I wanted was out of stock- I could have never kept it white). And its pretty too! 😉 [Read more…]
As I was working on Don’s big boy bed, I wanted something fun and whimsical for over his bed. I also had the goal for making it affordable, because we’re moving soon so it doesn’t make sense to invest in something right now.
