a home decor blog, making it pretty one space at a time
After about a month of prepping, we are finally out of our house and on the road to Florida (you can watch my Instagram stories for highlights from the trip)! It was SO much work getting our house ready. I wanted to share what we did in case you are also prepping for a move.
these are empty hangers from all of the clothes I donated!
Happy Monday! Today we are officially starting on our big road trip from Utah to Florida (we are moving to Miami over the winter- more details here)! We are taking 7 days and going at a leisurely pace both for the benefit of my dogs and son. We have lots of fun stops planned out and I will be sharing the highlights on my Instagram stories if you want to follow along.
A few weeks ago, my local news channel invited me onto their show to talk about my bathroom renovation! That stuff still makes me nervous, but its fun too (I just pretend I’m talking to my best friend). You can watch the interview here. [Read more…]
Since we are moving next week (!!!) I thought I would take you on a tour of my house! I haven’t done a full house tour since I started the blog in 2015, so I thought I’d do it now. My husband took these photos a few days ago so this is how our house really is (or was, we packed a bunch of stuff up). Let’s get started!
For privacy reasons, I’ve never shown full exterior photos of our condo. Plus, it’s not the prettiest building (especially in the middle of the winter). Our front door is in a little corner which is tucked in the back of the complex. Right above our door is our deck. [Read more…]
2017 was a seriously busy year for my home with remodeling. Here are the big projects I completed last year:
In May I completed my kitchen remodel. It was absolutely the biggest project I’ve ever tackled and I am so happy with the made over space. The cabinets are SO much more functional. I adore the farm sink (and am grateful that the white sink that I wanted was out of stock- I could have never kept it white). And its pretty too! 😉 [Read more…]
As I was working on Don’s big boy bed, I wanted something fun and whimsical for over his bed. I also had the goal for making it affordable, because we’re moving soon so it doesn’t make sense to invest in something right now.
Years ago, Anthropologie had the cutest safari animal heads. I mostly loved the zebra one:
Don (my sweet little 2.5 year old) got a big boy bed! He still sleeps well in his crib and hasn’t jumped out since he was 9 months old- which gave up both a heart attack. But I still decided to get him a big boy bed so we could start the transition. Plus, we are going to rent our house furnished while we move to Florida, so I wanted more bed options. [Read more…]
Hello! I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas. My son is at such a fun stage, it was pretty magical celebrating Christmas with him. For a few weeks I kept thinking about making a free 2018 calendar printable. I need a pretty calendar for next to my desk and thought that I could design my own botanical one.

Today I have a big announcement for you… Drum roll please!!!
We are moving to Florida! On January 8th, our little family is packing up and driving across the country to live in Miami, Florida for a few months. I know there will be a TON of questions, so I will do my best to answer all of them.
We got a work opportunity in Miami and we just couldn’t say no. My husband and I have dreamed for years of being snow birds and getting out of Utah for the winter. We LOVE where we live, but the winter isn’t our favorite part. The air gets really dirty here and so it isn’t healthy to go outside during times in the winter. For one year, we’re so excited to skip that!
Thanks to Overstock for teaming up with me on this post!
Every year I am super interested to hear what Pantone chooses as the color of the year. Pantone’s pick definitely influences trends and can be a good forecaster of what is to come. This year they choose Ultra Violet as the 2018 color of the year and I’ll be honest, it seems a little out of left field. Violet is such a bold and overbearing color that I wasn’t so sure.

A few weeks ago I shared with you my bathroom reveal. After 6 long weeks of working on it, that beautiful room was done and perfect! Well, not so much. I’m going to share a few mistakes I made on the room in the hopes that you can avoid them while you renovate. [Read more…]
