Debt Overview

I’ve written a few times about my journey to being debt free-. As a quick recap, we owed $43,000 in debt and paid it off in 3 years. It was not easy, but now that we are done I can see how much stress the debt was causing us. When I decided that my husband and I should be debt free, I read everything I could on the subject and then came to my husband with a grand plan of how we were going to do it.

The plan involved drastically cutting our budget- something that I am sure you can guess he wasn’t super happy about. We got in a big argument about it and I told him- let’s just try it out for 3 months and if it isn’t working, we can go back to how things were. So if you can’t get your partner on the same page- try that! It worked for us. He started seeing the progress and we worked hard on our goal until we paid the last student loan payment in January 2016.

How to Remove Wallpaper

Back in September of 2015 I started this blog and the first thing I did was do a tour of my house. My bedroom was made over in 2009- crown molding, wallpaper, drapes. We loved it!

As time has gone on, I’ve gotten sick of the wallpaper. It was a labor of love to put it up (my mom helped me do it one day), but I avoid taking pictures of this room because it is so dark. We added the settee a few years ago and everything feels so grey- too grey!

Living Room on a Budget- updates

Hi Friends! So right now I am all about decorating, but I don’t have a ton of money to do it. Is anyone else in the same boat? You want a pretty home but you don’t want to spend a fortune. That’s me! Awhile ago I wrote a super popular post on how I decorated my home on a budget. Today I am back with a few living room on a budget updates!
Lighting on a Budget- I have been wanting sconces (a sconce is a lamp that attaches to the wall) for behind the sofa for years, but haven’t found the perfect pair that are in my budget. Our living room doesn’t have a great lighting situation, so some ambient lighting is definitely needed. A month or so I saw on a blog that my favorite Target lamp comes in a sconce (no longer available)!

Travel Nursery- Budget Ship Lap Wall

Hello! If you remember, a few weeks ago I told you about the travel themed nursery I am helping my sister decorate for her baby boy who arrives this month! This week they installed a budget ship lap wall and I thought I would share all of the details. To refresh your memory, here’s the mood board:

First of all they painted the walls a “Dancing Mist” from Lowes. My sister wanted a fresh and airy look and I think this helped calm the room down a bit.

Since Don was born (he is now 15 months old!), I have done my fair share of DIY projects around the house. My husband and I have opposite days off, so it is usually me in charge of the baby trying to take care of him and get some projects done. I LOVE redoing my house, so I make time for it.
