In the past 7 months I’ve done a lot of DIY projects around our house. I’m constantly asked how different ones are holding up, so I thought I’d put up a post with the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Plans for my She Shed
I am literally counting down the days until spring! The second that it’s warm enough outside, we’ll wrap up our indoor projects to work on our backyard because that area is sad.
The other day I saw pictures of Joanna Gaine’s garden house and I couldn’t stop thinking about how badly I wanted a potting or “she shed.” So I wandered outside and checked out our two sheds. And before, where I saw a lost cause, I saw possibility. Now, I can’t stop thinking about this project. Let me show you- [Read more…]
Dollhouse Bathroom
A few months ago, I shared my dollhouse kitchen. I’d been been working on the thrift store dollhouse and loving it. Around Christmas time, my sister found me a second dollhouse. A friend was giving it away, so she got it for me (for free) because she knew I’d love it. And I do! Look at this little cutie!!!

I’ve been working on the first room in this house- the bathroom!

Decorating with Slanted Ceilings
I live in a 1905 house and the ceilings in the second floor and crazy slanted. I love the character they add, but they do make decorating a little tricky!
Today, I thought I would share how I’ve been decorating with slanted ceilings. As I’ve finished up rooms, I keep getting asked for tips on dealing with them. So for my fellow slanted roof friends, this one is for you!

St. Patrick’s Day Printable
Next week is St. Patrick’s day. To be honest, this isn’t usually a holiday that I celebrate. Except for the fact that it usually marks the end of winter in Utah. Oh, and Girl Scout cookies are available (which are two things definitely worth being happy about). BUT having a little kid makes me want to decorate for every holiday, so I’m embracing it!
Flea Market Shopping Tips
I got into vintage shopping probably 10 years ago. One day I thought it sounded fun so I wrote down every shop in town and saw them all. I bought myself a cute apron that I adored! And with that, I was hooked. It’s not super easy to get into, so I wanted to give some tips in case it sounds fun to you too!
The Best Way to Paint French Doors
In my house I have 3 French doors and both sides needed painting. I did the first one the best way I knew how- by taping off the glass with painter’s tape, painting, and then taking off the tape. Taping alone took 1 hour! And then the results were a little messy once the tape was removed- there were bleeds. And if the taping wasn’t perfect, well that didn’t look great either.
I decided to test a few methods to see if there was a better way. Because there HAD to be! And guess what?! I found an amazing option!d

Spring Front Porch
Let’s be clear here- it is not spring yet (at least for a few weeks). But I am getting a little cabin fever and I figure- maybe if I decorate for spring it will at least feel closer. So yes, there’s still snow on the ground, but this decor is definitely making me smile despite that small fact 😉
Don’s Farm Birthday Party
For my son’s 4th birthday party we decided to play homage to his love of animals with a farm party! Don is now old enough that he really helped with the plans. I was originally thinking of a Lego party, but farm was his idea and he was so excited for it, so that’s what we did! And it ended up being so fun!

Don’s New Mid Century Rocker
Thank you to Joybird for sponsoring this post
As you may know from this post, I’m doing a few changes in my son Don’s room. His rocking chair was well loved but VERY dirty. We still read a book together every night so I wanted to choose something that rocked, but would look good in other rooms in our house when he’s out of this phase of life.
Here’s the old rocker (the blanket is covering up the worst parts)-
